How to change u-joints at front hubs

I did some searching but couldn't find a thread regarding a how-to for changing the u-joints on the front axle at the hubs, so I apologize if it's out there and I'm double posting...

I have a 99 F-250 crew cab SD 4x4 and the u-joints on the front axle at the hubs have absolutely no needle bearings left - completely gone. I've done the ball joints and wheel bearings in the past, but would just like a refresher on the steps to get at the u-joints that connect to the front hubs to replace them.

Thanks in advance!

Make sure you support the axle ears when you are pressing the u-joints out. I didn't and ended up bending the ears on the long axle shaft. $150 bought me a used shaft. A new one cost $500. I learned my lesson and make sure and share it with others now.

Looking at your video I decided to do my u-joints ,but i can't get my axle of the knuckle.
Used hammer, pry bar from behind, pull on it ,wiggled and nothing .
It stretches the seal but it will not come off. I did the install 4 years ago and did put some grease on the outside of the seal so it should not be seised.
What to do?I think I'll just order new seal and cut old one.
Any tricks to get it off?
thanks

When I did mine I basicaly had to destroy the seal to get it off , Just beat the heck out of it from the back , It will go :-drink

Ok done but it was a bit@@ to get them of. One seal changed, one still like new so i kept it on.
One U-joint was all rusted inside and stiff like hell. Got ones with zerks so I should be good for long time. Also new back plates(dust shields)installed, old ones rusted out.
After all no more wandering and jerking steering wheel.
Thanks for tips.
