best mufflers

okay, so ive heard of hooker aerochamber mufflers and powerstick classic chambered mufflers, both sound really good.

heres my question...........which one would sound better on a 5.0 in the 93 bronco....im looking for a very aggressive tone and nice sound when i get on it alittle...:-huh

or do any of you recommend any other mufflers, (cherry bombs arent as loud as id like, and flowmaster just dont have the sound im looking for):-huh

Best muffler is a subjective opinion, I think both your choices would be good. An additional suggestion would be the strange looking yet well made Kamikazee mufflers, which are very aggressive, maybe too aggressive sounding. Sound clips are going to be very hard to find on those though, if there are any. The Kamikazee are going to be in the same volume/aggressiveness league as a Flowmaster 10 series or Aero Turbine. Don't know what you are looking for, by advise is if you think the Aerochamber sounds good to you, I'd take that one, the Powerstick however comes across to me as generic, though I could be wrong. Hooker is a respected brand name and so I would tend more towards that one versus a brand I'd never heard of before.

thanks, im llooking for a sound kinda like an old muscle car would sound, something with a great rumble and a nice crack when u get on it alittle bit, and i was thinking the same about aerochamber thanks for the advice!!

Lots of guys used to run thrush mufflers back in the day. They were a round glass pack type muffler. I had a set on a 66 Chevell 396 sounded pretty good to me. I googled them up and it looks like summitt and jegs still sell them.

i bought purple hornies by flowtech

Check out Spintech

I like Magnaflow. They sound better than Flowmasters in MHO. Or, you may take your pick of varying lengths of glass packs. I have 30" on my Fairlanes and they sound mean.}> Jag

Magnaflow's are nice forsure. I just swapped my 2 chamber ( old school name) Flowmasters for a Magnaflow muffler.

Also ran the Magnapack CB on a 98 GT I had..loved them

Well at least you didn't ask what is the best oil...:-X04

Yet since you are asking, mufflers that is, I have Maxflows on my 302-4V Cougar.

Jag Red 54 07-11-2012 10:10 AM

My buddy just put Flowmasters on his 302 equipped 65 Galaxy. I tried to get him to go with the Magnaflows, but NOOOOOOOOO, he had to go with the Flowmasters. Well, now his car sounds like a tractor idlwing.:o Too bad, but I tried to tell him. Jag

My 86 Stang had the 5.0 with a custom exhaust, it was straight piped with hooker headers but had Turbo Tubes on it, which is now the single chambered exhaust. Let me tell you, i had the loudest car around, ear blistering loudness...

dirtydeeds 08-23-2012 12:51 AM

I just installed Long Tube headers and dual BAmufflers with h pipe on my buddy's 95 bronco with 5.0 sounds awesome. Not overly loud, but very aggressive. I'll post up some video when I get a chance.

In the mean time this will hopefully help you. I made a lot of mistakes when figuring out my exhaust, this documents the solution:
