Ford Trucks Guinea Pigs For Propane

Check out today's homepage article about Ford fleets being run by propane. So, why not propane?

lot of trucks run in California on propane in 1970's. I meet few owners who drove them into 1980's.
At that time gas was about 80 cents and propane about the same, while buying propane was a big hassle. Most of the truck had 120 gallons for propane mounted on the bed. Those took quite a bit of space.

my 79 Bronco with a 428 Fe ,has been on propane for 20 years it runs great , and strong enough to bust 2 posi units ..the oil is still clean when I change it .and I like it now that propane is 80 cents a liter and gas is 1.30.9 a liter ..it works and works well ..what is the big deal??

I hope propane prices drop in my area since it's a proven fuel over many decades.

I want to convert my yard wrecker first since I hate rebuilding carbs and it sits quite a bit.

A local gas station owner is designing custom LP fill setups for his stations (apparently the commercial offerings are stunningly expensive and don't suit him) and should start fielding them in 2013. That will make filling convenient.

I see that natural gas prices has dropped , and wonder about why propane doesn't follow .. I collect old bar B Q..thanks and use a cheeter hose to drain them into my truck ..the scrap guy's like me cause they don't have to vent them ...more savings !!

I collect BBQ tanks too. I run LP on my cutting torch. No slosh hazard and works great.
