2000 Ranger XLT ABS Problems
About 90% of the time when I come to a stop, my abs kicks in from about 5 mph to a complete stop. It is the only time that my ABS kicks unwanted. I just bought the truck and it was on a farm. After talking to some buddies they suggested taking the front wheels off and cleaning about the brakes, taking off the ABS senser cleaning it and putting it back on. They think it could just be some brake dust and or dirt in the ABS sensor.
Any suggestions or help would be appreciated. |

If you have the 4.0 engine or 4 wheel drive, you have all wheel ABS brakes. Other models got all wheel ABS in 2001. The possible exception is if you have a late 2000 model, you may have 4 wheel ABS. Manufacturers sometimes introduce some features of the next model year before that model is announced. Look for an exciter ring and sensor on the front brakes. If found, you have 4 wheel ABS.
