WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO YOUR TRUCK TODAY?
(An excellent idea for any forum, that came from one of the older truck forums here!)
~I've been looking over the casting marks on two of my 351W's to determine how old they are, and anything I better know about external balancing... :-X22 |
Didnt do anything today. On Sunday my brother and I did a little panel weld and straighten.
This is before. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-R...I/s800/147.JPG After https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-w...0/100_0485.JPG Back to work today after 3 day weekend. |
~I made my wallet $500 lighter (finally!). The necessaries from Advance Adapters are on the way - now I can get busy cleaning stuff up.
|
I used mine :-X22
My load bags were empty when I loaded so I took the truck to a gas station once full and filled up the bags. It was cool watching the truck rise like magic! Plus it handled it MUCH better! http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/v...0/87be8d53.jpg http://i686.photobucket.com/albums/v...0/da4134ba.jpg |
We used air shocks for that in the seventies -
Anyone remember "Gabriel Hyjackers"? The cops would always let the air out if they could find the fill points - so you needed to hide them.... Got a race going on to see which of my parts come first - but that's little stuff |

Got a race going on to see which of my parts come first - but that's little stuff Had my fill valves inside the trunk area of my 66 chevell. Both on separte lines so I could offset the pressure for pounding the pavement. Just a little. Pounding the pavement that is. |
My buddy in high school ran his to right next to the drivers seat, and pulled the carpet over them. That way he had a quick way to let the air out when needed (on more than one occasion).

I had those "Gabriel Hyjackers" on my old 65 Mustang ( man I miss that car! ) . I raised some hell with that thing!:-X04 I autographed plenty of intersections with my rear tires.:D That is until I snapped my transmission slip yoke into two pieces.:-roll:-X04
I haven't done a thing on my 54 in a long time. :( I've just been planning out my engine build and my little cab modification. :-X04 |
Had my Hijackers on a '67 chevelle. Remember adding air and standing back just to get the right "rake". What else could I do, It was a 6cyl/3spd (but it did have a 4bbl on an offenhauser !)
Learning how to weld panels and shrink dents on mine..... |
*If you think this thread is cool - rate it.
Good - bad, whatever.... I spun up the oil pressure in the 351W with a 5/16ths deepwell on a quarter drive extension , and using a drill. It almost fried my old B/D standby drill... So I tried it by hand: 1) The oil pressure is solid, no binding as if stuff was broke 2) It seems to take a long time for the pressure to bleed down once it's run up 3) Main reason is to get a lubrication blanket everywhere before the engine is turned at all 4) Secondary purpose is to flush any condensation - but it was stored high up in a loft It looks like it has a modded original strib - but THAT needs a closer look on the build thread. |
Rattle Rattle Rattle..... painted a few more panels and dash pieces.

and Weld, Weld, Grind, Grind..
Learning the hard way (experience, all by your lonesone) how to do patch panels... |
I'm studyin' paint real close right now - I want the engine and trans to match the overall scheme and went to look at the source of a lot of trick paint (House of Kolor)
(!) You can spend hours looking around the House of Kolor website...... House of Kolor (Parent company is VALSPAR) THIS is the base color I chose - Kandy apple Cobalt Blue http://www.house-of-kolor.co.uk/shop...KBC05_BC25.jpg Specifically: (pt#) HOK000538 You know my manic method by now - first I look to see if we have an FTE sponsor that supplies what I'm looking for, there are often discounts. THEN I look outside of the box... If I find a HIT; I track it to the source. Never deal with middle retailers, all that does is dilute your cashflow. *I passed them on as a sponsor suggest - we really need a supplier/sponsor like this! RAW MATERIALS and bitchen ideas..... |
