F450 vs F350 Differences?
 

Other than a wider front track, slightly upgraded trailer hitch, and 4.30 axle ratio, are there any other stock differences? I didn't see anything about the suspension being different, and both trucks are still upgradeable to a heavy service front spring set.

Wheels are 10 lug, frame is different, axles are different.

Are you talking about pickup 350 vs 450 or cab and chassis 350 vs 450?

pickups, both dually.

The difference? About $20,000?

nah, exact same setup and options is about a difference of 3-4k. talking about the new 2011/2012 ones by the way. the 19.5" wheels on the last f450's made it look so much more badass, but the new ones probably give a better ride/speed rating.

ok i'm seeing that the F450 has almost 2" in diameter larger brakes too. i think the new ones only are 8 lug wheels though.

The big differences is the chassis. It's gonna ride harder and has a beefier frame. Also, you can get longer frames and wheel bases. But that's only on the chassis cab.

350 and 450 pickups have the same chassis.
Both have the Dana 80 rear axle rated at 9000 lb. GAWR.
Both have a 6000 lb. GAWR for the front axle but the 450 has the Dana Super 60 Monobeam Widetrack axle.
450 has larger brakes.
350 has a higher payload rating and the 450 has a higher tow rating.
350 has a 3.73 axle ratio and the 450 has the 4.30.
The 350 is available in 2WD or 4WD and the 450 is available only as a 4WD.
Both the 350 and the 450 have 8 lug wheels.

This is based upon the 2011 model pickup info. The chassis-cabs are different. Although, after looking through the 2012 order guide, there don't appear to be any changes with regard to the differences between the 350 and 450 pickups. And the above is basic standard info. not taking into consideration optional packages such as the Snow Plow Package or the Heavy Service Front Suspension Package.

Ford basically turned the F-450 (with the bed) into an F-350 with a higher rating for 2011. Not as much difference between the 350 and 450 as was with the 2008-2010 models.

Yeah I didn't think there were many major differences in the new models, as opposed to the older models. Just didn't know if the chassis was any different, but my question was answered in this thread. Can you get an E-locker for the duallys that engages the same way as SRW trucks by pulling out the 4WD selector switch?

The F450 frame has extra reinforcing compared to F350. They are not identical.

Dont see why theyd downgrade on the rims... Not like ppl need to do over 90 mph in a 10k F450 anyways :-arrgh. Those 19.5 were mean lookin and made the truck


Also dont forget they detuned the new 6.7s in the chassis cabs and used a diff turbo.
