Rear brakes feed line
 

I am getting the 9in rear end ready to install. It has part of the rubber line that feeds the junction block on the housing. How do you get it off to replace it? I have tried to put vise grips on it but it does not want to turn. How do you get the brass block off.

The original blocks on these trucks were a separate piece and the hose screwed into it. From about the 60's on, the block is permanently crimped onto the hose. You replace the whole thing as an assembly. If your 9" is out of a newer truck, I'd guess that's what you've got.

My rear end is out of a 72 ford pickup. So I need to change the whole block?

What he's trying to say is that you will get a brand new block when you buy a new hose. They're permanently attached to each other in the factory and sold as one piece.

'Zactly! What you've got doesn't come apart like the original setup did. You get a new block as part of the hose assembly.

You don't: The brass junction block/rubber rear brake hose is a one piece assembly (1968/72 F100 2WD: C8TZ-2282-C .. Rear Brake Hose).

The block has a hole in it, the rear axle vent passes thru the hole, threads into the rear axle.
