good people on the slick forum if that's where you end up with a new truck by the way 65 was the best looking ford truck other than the monkey face

Thanks, I already started a thread there with some pics.

I've always been partial to the 65 / 66 because my dad had a 65.

You'll have plenty of lantern capacity for camping- you might even get one of those 12V blenders for those fancy drinks.
My first car (a '63 Galaxie) was a 352, so maybe the trucks got the 352 a couple years later than the cars.

See, I knew someone would correct me. I have lots to learn about this truck.

The fancy shmancy blender doohickey sounds good to me.

Great looking truck!!!

I had a 59 Ford Galaxie 500 years ago. I think it had the 352.

Congrats! Enjoy it.

Thank you sir. Yeah, I wanted to go all new fangled this time and move into the 60s.

I'm getting confused with two threads running, but yes, it is an F250 camper special. The PO told me he replaced the Camper Special stickers with the Twin I Beam because the CS were no longer available.

Joe, that's a great looking truck you found there! It might not carry as much weight as your old one, but I'll bet it'll go a lot faster!

Thanks. No, I'll never put much weight on this one (or Betsy either, for that matter) But I drove her home on the freeway for about 45 miles, and the entire trip (except for traffic) was faster than I've ever driven Betsy. And when Betsy was doing 53 mph, the fastest I ever took her, she sounded like she was gonna blow. This one was at 1800 rpm at 55 in 5th gear. I kinda like that 5 speed.

Thanks Bobby. I really don't know the history of the 352 in cars or trucks. But I bet I'll learn it on FTE! :-X25

Is that a built in tool box on the bed? The engine sounds nice. It might be illegal in California, but when you move to...was it Virginia?....it will be just fine. :)

Yes, I think that box was standard on the Camper Special. I know we had one on our 78 F250 CS. Wish I still had that truck.

My son came over tonight, listened to the pipes and said they're fine. I'm just not used to the rumble.

I thought I'd post this here... for anyone who cares.

As some of my friends here will recall, I've been ranting about getting out of the Peoples Republik of Kalifornia for some time.

Well, we've bought a house in Virginia contingent on the sale of our house in the PRoK. We held our first open house on Saturday and Sunday. We got 3 full-price offers on Saturday and accepted a counter-offer for more money on Sunday. So we're in escrow in two states, 2,600 mile apart.

If all goes as planned, we should be living in Virginia the first week in December.

Our new home has a full basement, of which over 1,000 sq ft will be my new workshop.

For any of you that might care, we'll be in the outskirts of Harrisonburg, VA.

The new house (only 2 years old) has 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen, a full bathroom and living room in the basement. So, some of my FTE friends may wish to visit. :-wink

That's great, but more important, how big is the new garage?!?!?

Let me know when you're passing thru, hopefully we can get together!

That's awesome Joe! Congrats!

Because of the time of year we'll be moving, we won't be going through Albuquerque, because I don't want to risk the weather in Flagstaff. We'll be taking what my dad called "the southern route" which is I10 to I20 to I30 to I40 to I81. So we'll be waiting for you to visit us in VA. :)

The garage is a simple 550 sq ft 2 car garage. But there's a side driveway that will hold two vehicles also. }> And my wonderful wife has already made plans to add a garage in that area for future vehicles.

I am with Ross, would love to see the new work shop!

Thanks Abe. We'll be closer to you, but still very far away. The east coast is longer than I imagined.

I was looking at a map to see how far we'll be from Florida... 1,000 miles to Ft. Lauderdale. :-huh
