AOD Wont Shift Into Overdrive
 

93, 4x4, Wont shift into OD. I was told to ckeck the TV cable 1st. then a stuck 3-4 shift valve. If the 3-4 valve is next to check - Do I have to remove the valve body? What do I look for? How many check balls, springs, pins, are going to drop down one me? Any advise & a picture will be very apreciated.

does the OD light go on and the tranny doesn't shift into OD or does the OD light not go on at all?

Here is how to adjust the TV cable.
Could also be a sticking governor but check the cable adjustment first.

If it is an AOD, than there will be no light as it is mechanical. If it has a button on the shifter, it is and AODE or and E4OD, and it is electronic.
