Remove Gas from Tank?
 

2010 F-150 with 38 gallon tank. Original thought was great way of having some spare fuel available for use during an emergency. Can anyone please share how to easily remove gas from these new vehicles? Many thanks.

step 1: get into vehicle
step 2: start vehicle
step 3: drive it like you stole it
step 4: stop just before you run out of gas so you can get back home

ha ha... I'm sorry, i just had to especially since there were no other posts.

In all honesty though, i really have no idea besides actually burning the gas the normal way.

Most new vehicles have a closed returnless system and the tanks have check valves in the filler necks now in case of rollover, siphoning is a no go.

Do you mean for emergency purposes or for everyday use? If you need fuel on a daily basis, I'd recommend a portable tank in the bed but for emergency purposes, just buy a siphon. The make some cheap simple ones but you can use any type of hose. I've siphoned fuel from my dad's semi with a 3 foot piece of garden hose.

But you've likely NOT siphoned from the new capless filler neck, have you? Go try it and let us know the results.

Use the funnel that comes with the truck that is MADE to hold the hole open... not exactly rocket science.

This thread seems suspicious to me. Why would anyone want to siphon gas from their own truck? You can burn a tank in 2 weeks if you drive enough.

If you cant afford the gas you put in your truck and you want it back out, you shouldnt be driving a 2010.

I believe it is made to be next to impossible without the Ford provided funnel (to put fuel in with a gas can or even attempt a siphon procedure), anyways.

But, yah, you are right, if someone really wants to lug around some extra fuel - why not just buy a damn gas can and lug around some extra fuel? :-huh

I understand where you are coming from. Unfortunately, most all newer vehicles are designed so that fuel can not be stolen from the tank, thus no siphoning.

The only thing I could see would be some sort of take off fitting in line. Something you could hook up to, turn the key on and fill a can. Something like HD trucks have for generators, reefer units and such.
