GOOD POST , DID FORD EVER GET A FACTORY FIX FOR IT UNDER WARRANTY ?

fz1dave 06-30-2011 09:52 PM

That would suck. Especially being it's touted as a Baja offroad racer. I feel sorry for anyone trying to get Ford to own up to a design flaw. Apparently the thread starter isn't having much luck.

rangerfan 06-30-2011 10:27 PM

Holy crap!!! I'd come unglued. Was thinking about getting one. Not sure now.

fz1dave 06-30-2011 10:33 PM

It'd definitely make me think twice as well.

EndorphinJunky 07-06-2011 02:15 PM

Wow..that don't look good at all.

..wonder why they bend that way. I would think the bed would be bent the opposite way if anything..?

Go to the end of the postings on that link. Nothing has happened except lots of comments and finger pointing.

It appears Ford has oversold and drivers have overestimated this vehicle's capacity and ability. It is breakable apparently....

Jason Lewis 07-06-2011 06:35 PM

I had a fealing this would happen not that the truck is not tough just that people se a fully off road truck with power and there gonna go crazy with it,

(Not talking to my FTE friends) :-X04

Ford should of built a 3 Gen lightning insted !

tolliewolly 07-07-2011 07:07 AM

Heck just get the 100 dollar bolt on kit that fixes it. Then go have fun.

i just read the whole thing, and im up in the air with this one. the video looks like their doing well over 60mph when they hit the kicker? but just imagine a 6000lb truck doing 60-70mph hitting a 12" high kicker? something is gonna bend or break, these arent full on trophy trucks you know. Crap i dont think i could handle that on my 2007 RMZ450 at wide open throttle. But i also think ford shouldnt back out and say that they wont pay for it when they made this truck to do what these guys are doing. plus they make videos to sell this truck jumping it 5 to 6 feet in the air and then they say o were not gonna fix it now?

There is one very vocal owner who went on this trip who is pushing all of the publicity. On this trip, there was lots of other carnage: one truck bent BOTH front spindles, blown power steering pumps, etc. This group was running at speeds of 80+ mph for quite a bit of the trip and did not have GPS or any notes of obstacles. There is video out there of guys cruising along and high speed and are surprised by hitting cattle guards and a "kicker" (where a lot the "frame bending" occurred). The root cause is simply going way too fast on unknown terrain - a recipe for disaster every time. There are only a handful of folks who have this issue and the vast majority of them were on this trip. Every vehicle has its limit and these guys found it for the Raptor. It is NOT A TROPHY TRUCK.

SuperDutyScaler 07-08-2011 12:29 PM

see kaiser im glad someone knows more about what really happened on that trip. How the hell did the bend the front spindals? maybe the 80+mph on terrain thats made for a real trophy truck? i dont know maybe. but you cant exspect ford to fix a frame when the owner was doing over 80mph hitting two foot tall bumps? the raptor is a one of a kind truck, but doing almost a 100mph on desert terrain isnt one of them.

I'll be dipped if I can see the video of these guys. What page is it on in that link? Seems like I've looked through it, and I see all the frame pics etc, but no video....?
