Thank You NumberDummy, you nailed it. At this point, the transmission is still in the truck and I am trying to get a fix on the repair costs. I believe (hope) the repair is just a clutch but I soon found out that without part numbers, I can't get too specific a cost estimate. If you could post the relevant part numbers and sources, I would again be appreciative. I had the clutch replaced a few years back, but the mechanic was unable to source some of the parts at the time and may have reused worn parts. I am thinking that is part of the reason I'm looking at a repeat. Thanks again for your rapid and on the nail response.

Hello again NumberDummy, I apologize if I'm missing something. What I am hoping for is a relatively simple clutch replacement job involving a clutch disc, pressure plate, throughout bearing, and pilot bearing if required. I'm afraid I don't see any of these in the schematics you posted. Furthermore, the mechanic who did the last clutch said there was no more adjustment in the linkage which would often not disengage the clutch which resulted frequent gear grinding. If you could provide the schematic of that assembly, it would be helpful.The one parts guy I spoke with said he would require the part number of the pressure plate to see what he could come up with.
Also, so that I don't have to keep bothering you, this truck has a driveline emergency brake on the rear of the transmission that I would like to rehabilitate if possible. Any information on its parts would be appreciated as well. This is a secondary issue about which and I am not very optimistic however.

Upper pic: Clutch parts / Lower (lower) pic: Drum type emergency brake, could have 9 x 2 or 9 x 3 shoes.

Note in the upper pic where it says F100-250. The parts are actually the same as 1961/63 F100/250 4WD & 1961/63 F350/750.

I recently bought a 1973 F600 dump truck that originally was a U-haul. I don't know what engine is in it and I'm looking for the part number and size for a new flywheel for it. the VIN is F60DUR80579. Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this. Rob

D = 330 2V Heavy Duty FT engine. Note: 1964/72, this was known as the 330 2V Medium Duty FT engine.

1973: The IDIOTS at FoMoCo dropped the original 1964/72 330 2V Heavy Duty FT engine, then renamed the former 330 2V Medium Duty as the Heavy Duty or Xtra Duty. :(

Hey, quick question about gasoline for the 73 F600 truck, would you use 87 octane likely with ethanol or go with ethanol free gasoline? The later is about 40 cents more per gallon and I'm assuming the truck gets about 5-7miles/gallon.

I also heard that the interior parts for the F600 are identical to a F100 except for the steering wheel and panel. Any truth?

Some production figures are available, as these were kept for the entire auto industry by R. L. Polk and Co.
