OLD DECODES
I have every Ford Truck Parts Catalog from 1928 thru 2001, so I can decode all the VIN info, codes from the Rating/Warranty Plates and the Certification Label first used in 1981.
If you need parts, obsolete or not, I can look up the numbers, then search for them on two online websites to see if anyone has them. Then will post the part numbers, sources that have them. If the parts are still available, I will list the MSRP and the FTE member discount price offered by sponsor PARTSGUYED.COM (Ed Olson, parts manager of Horizon Ford in Seattle WA). I've been doing this jazz on FTE since 11/04/2006. And, btw: One of the parts locator sites is only accessible to FoMoCo Dealers. |
I need info..
Do I post my VIN/door plate info here? Or a PM?
Thanks |
From the op's first post/thread:
I just bought a 1970 F500 flatbed (VIN-F50BKH36050) and would like to convert it to a dumpbed if it isn't too terrible a task. I have to get a fuel pump and battery, fix the brakes and hopefully get it inspected/registered by the end of the month. The door plate is as follows: WB-156 Color-FM Model-F504 Body-4C8 Trans-A Axle-42 GVW-18000 Net H.P.-135 RPM-3400 DSO-1 I have a pretty good understanding of hydraulic systems, but I am mainly looking for information on the bracketry and hinge assemblies for the dumper. If I can't get a dumper setup too easily, I'll go with a bed crane and outriggers. Also a big hydraulic winch. Thanks for the |

From the op's first post/thread:
VIN:F50BKH36050 / Warranty Plate: WB-156 / Color-FM / Model-F504 / Body-4C8 / Trans-A / Axle-42* / GVW-18000 / CERT NET HP-135 / RPM-3400 / DSO-1 :-huh DSO has either 2 or 6 numbers, not just 1. B = 300 1V I-6. K = Kansas City MO Assembly Plant. H36050 = 1970. 156" Wheelbase. FM: F = Light Beige / M = Wimbledon White. F504 = F500, 18,000 lbs. GVWR 4C8: 4C = Black H/D all Vinyl / 8 = 81A Standard Cab. A = New Process 435 4 Speed Manual Transmission. 42 = Rockwell model D100 Single Speed Rear Axle / 6.20-1 / 13,000 lbs. Rear Axle Capacity. 18,000 lbs. Gross Vehicle Weight Rating. 135 net HP @ 3,400 RPM DSO = ? * Verify the AXLE code: 1970 and later 500 and larger series trucks usually have 3 digits. 3rd digit front axle code missing. |
Thanks for the information. I will get a picture of the warranty plate tonight. I'm also going to try and get a picture of the foot well in the cab. It has and second foot button close to the high beam switch that I have no idea about. This truck also has the hangar for a tank on the frame...could that possibly be from an old side mount fuel tank? Or a hydraulic tank?
When ever it quits raining I'll finally get to spend some time crawling around underneath it and see what I can see. |
Early/mid 1960's FoMoCo Passenger Cars were available with a radio reverberator, mounted under the dash, could be turned on/off by a switch located next to the dimmer switch.
1960's Cadillac's had a similar switch on the floor, I don't recall whether it raised/lowered the power antenna or was for a reverberator, basically an amplifier. 1967/79 all FoMoCo vehicles: If you contact martiauto.com, you can order a copy of your trucks original build sheet, window sticker and etc. All Marti needs is the VIN and some buckaroo's. Info is from the original FoMoCo records that Marti acquired in the late 1980's when he learned that FoMoCo was going to THROW THEM AWAY! |
Somebody over there at Marti Auto apparently could see into the future.

Good Morning! Do you know a good source for parts info for 77 - 79 Ford Rancheros?
Thanks! |
I have a 1980 F600 with a 370 2V (N61HVJD9686). It sat for about a year and a half with a partial tank of fuel and condensation caused corrosion that destroyed the fuel sending unit and float. The original fuel tank and sending unit was replaced at some prior time with a diesel tank. The current sending unit has a drawing number of D3HF-9275-DA. Please locate me a sending unit and float. Thank you in advance.

The original fuel tank and sending unit was replaced at some prior time with a diesel tank. The current sending unit has a ID engineering number of D3HF-9275-DA You do not have an F600. If you did, the VIN would begin with F61, not N61. N61 = LN600 (gas). H = 370 2V V = Kentucky Truck Assembly Plant. JD9686 = 1980. ID number: D3HF-9275-DA = Ford part number: D3HZ-9275-D (replaced C3TZ-9275-A) .. Fuel Tank Sending Unit-Includes Float & Mounting Gasket / Use with gas or diesel engines / Obsolete Applications: 1963/69 N600/750 / 1970/89 L/LN600/900 / 1970/89 LT/LTS 800/900. NOS PARTS LTD in Waxahachie TX has 1 = 972-937-2201. KAMA OBSOLETE PARTS in East Bethel MN has 1 = 763-434-0123. DON SANDERSON FORD in Glendale AZ has 7 = 623-842-8643. GREEN SALES CO. in Cincinnati OH has 7 = 800-543-4959. Call around for the best price. Obsolete parts prices vary wildly from one source to another. |
Thank you, I found one for $40 + shipping.
