1994 ranger hub and transfer case questions?
I have a 1994 4x4 supercab ranger with the 4.0, push button 4x4.
question 1. does anyone make an aftermarket manual hubs for this truck? question 2. when I push the button for the 4x4, it will move the transfercase motor to the 4x4 position and then right back to two wheel drive. I have a brown wire hanging off the trasfer case (seperate from the motor wire plug) which I am thinking might be to a sensor to tell it that its in 4x4? maybe it's not getting signal there for its going back to 2 wheel drive? oh and the transfer case motor is brand new. any help would be great thanks, johull |
yes, both warn and milemarker make manual hubs for the '93-'97 series ranger. you also need the spindle nut kit for the manual hubs as well. mile markers are the cheaper way to go (about 180 for the set last i knew-at autozone) the nut "kit" gos for about $50 new. might be able to find at a junkyard. i think the brown wire is for the speed sensor, so that it wont go into low range unless its stopped, not entirely sure on that one. there is a control module for the electric shift 4x that may be the cause of your problem, dont know much about it, just that it exists. i found this at another forum i read often, if your able to troubleshoot with a voltmeter this may be able to help. ok I fixed the motor for the transfercase, you have to actually adjust the positioning that tells it when it is locked in or not, really easy fix.
