Door blend motor replacement on 2008 f450
Anyone had this go on their truck? Dealer told me mine needs to be replaced and it would cos over $900 just in labor plus $65 for the part. Has anyone does it their self, and is it as hard as the dealer says?

There is a TSB about the '08 blend doors and they will replace them under warranty- providing you have less than 36,000 miles. I didn't find out about it until I was past 36K, so mine are not done. The entire dash has to be removed, and of course, re-installed. It is a 7-9 hour job, which is why I have not tackled the job myself.

yup, dash removal. I would think a manual is needed before trying to take that dash all apart

I've got the Helms manuals, and working around and under the dash is what I do best. I used to install radios, lights, sirens, etc. on our squad cars. On my '85 F350, I added a second fuel gauge (for the second tank) in the dash, and changed the idiot lights out to gauges. But the blend doors are about as far into the dash as you can go. I would also have to remove a CB radio, air compressor controls and air gauges, before even starting on the dash. So I'm going to live with AC blowing out the left vents and heat coming out of the right vents. It's mostly my passenger's problem anyway.

Where did you find the TSB for the unit?
|
Sorry, but it took me a while to locate it. The TSB is 09-12-15 and it can be found here: 09-12-15*** LARGE TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES - BUILD BEFORE 11/6/2008
Also, you can do a search on blend doors, right above the first post on this page, there is a tab that says: Search This Post. |
Awsome thank you very much, I will be calling the dealer tomorrow since I only have 32k on the truck
