04 Escape Turning Vibration
Hi,
I have a vibration when turning to the right coming from the front. Seems to be getting worse over time. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks Brian |
Loose steering linkage, worn bushings, worn constant velocity joints, bad tie rod ends, loose bearings, bent wheel, worn ball joint, loose pinch bolt could all cause or allow vibration.
Please tell when the vibration occurs, such as cornering in town, or on the highway at speed, or turning out of a parking lot. tom |
Just did a test drive. I start to feel a smaller/slower vibration around 40km when turning to the right while rocking the steering back and forth. It starts to really hum around 70km plus when rocking back and forth.
Thanks Brian |
I gather it is not shaking the steering wheel, just making a humming. When you have noise that comes and goes by turning the steering wheel back and forth, you are unloading and loading either side of the tires more than in straight ahead driving. I would inspect the wheel bearings as I think one of them is going out.

Tom,
That's what I was thinking. Now comes the fun part. :) Thanks Brian |
