2011 F450

Hello all,

I am new to this forum and soon new to a 2011 F450 diesel truck. The truck is expected to be at my Ford dealer by the end of May first week of June at the latest. cant wait to take delivery. Should be a great summer with all new toys.
I have been doing research on this truck, i hope to find more general diesel preventative maintenance here on this great forum. I am purchasing the extended warranties that Ford offers. They also now have a Truck care maintenance program which they offer for approximately $3,300.00 for 5 years it covers almost everything except tire wear. What are your thoughts.

Thanks to all

Jim

I would rather do the work myself. Stuff like changing the oil and fuel filters, checking brakes and rotating tires is not the difficult and sure alot less expensive to do it yourself.

Besides you will always need to go behind them and make sure they did do the work you paid for.

In addition, with these modern diesels and the emissions stuff you should be popping the hood and checking fluids and stuff more often then in the past.

Head off any issues before they become issues.

Welcome Jim :-X22 I moved you from General Diesel the 6.7L forum. The guys here are great for answering all questions you are concerned with in making your purchase decisions.

Congrats on the new truck! The service agreements can be nice (its nice not having to pull money of out of your pocket for oil changes) but I think thats a figure they can discount consdierably. I'm not exactly sure because mines built into the payments, but I think I paid below 2000 for it. I know it was partially cheaper through fleet (at least thats what they said) but I'm sure the retail side can work it down as well. I didn't get the extra warranty so am not sure about that. What sold me is at the time I traded my 2004 I needed $1000 in brakes (confirmed by 2 seperate shops) so figured that alone would have almost paid for my maintenance package.

When I bought my 2011 F350, the dealer added all the filter costs from Ford, and my price on synthetic oil. The maintenance agreement was cheaper and that was only counting the oil changes for 5 years. I thought it was a decent deal. This is the first time I have bought one of these.
