Newer rear axle

Would I be able to swap in a 8.8 out of a 97 and newer F150?
Is there a speed sensor in them like in the one I have? Spring and shock mounts same or different?
I'm looking at getting a LS and some better gears for my 88 f150 as cheap as possible.

The 1st thing that comes to mind is that the wheel bolt pattern is different-you'd have to have 2 spare tires.

Are axleshafts interchangeable between the two? That would allow you to keep the bolt pattern...
