Speed Limiter on 2011
Does anyone know if and how to disable the speed limiter on a new F150 with a 5.0 engine. ? Mine cuts off around 93, of course the service depart at my local dealer said they couldn't touch it . :-X22

Yeah no dealership will touch it.
However I think your best route is go with a tuner. I beleive someone on this site has videos on youtube of a tuned 5.0L doing over 110mph. And doing it quite easily at that. I would check out the 5.0L specific fourms, I think he has threads there. He would be the one to talk to about getting a tune and/or taking off your speed limiter. |

Anyway. I recently got custom tunes from Mike Butler @ 5 Star Tuning (5 Star Tuning | Custom Dynomemeter Chassis Tuning Products and Services) He personally has a new 5.0 F150 XL and is making great progress with the tuning of that engine. I suggest giving Mike a call or shooting him an email. Oh yeah...he's also one of our FTE Sponsors! |
Thanks I will check him out:-X22

does using a tunner void some or all of the warranty?

A bad door switch is likely to be covered if you have a tuner, but a shot transmission if you have a tuner is an entirely different ordeal. Depends on the dealer and how hard they wish to look for the re-flash when you installed the tuner. The search function will help you find more reading material. |
I always put my '05 back to stock when it went to the dealer, but the thing is, if they look into your computer and see your truck went 120mph and fuel, air and timing was far off of stock values, warranty will be null and void.

Always keep in mind that the top speed on vehicles is set based on the ratings of the tires. It's cool to have a truck that will do 130 mph, but if you don't have the speed rated tires, your really taking a big chance.
