F150 or super duty with a 6.2

I notice the HP and TQ ratings are higher on the F150 than they are for the super duty trucks. I tow roughly 11k pounds so either truck is rated to tow it. I imagine the F150 weighs less and has a little more HP/TQ so is it a better choice for my weight?

11,000 lbs. of what? Fifth wheel, travel trailer, goose neck?

Either way I'd go with the 250. The 150 might tow it, but it won't do it as easily, especially in the suspension/handling department. Don't get sucked in by the hp/tq numbers. There's always more to the equation.

Agreed... I was looking at an F-150 originally... but after reviewing the other parts of the equation I went with the F-250...

Enclosed car trailer. 28 foot tag trailer. 11k is max weight the trailer will ever be.

In either case I will have air bags installed because sometimes there is an 800 pound golf cart in the front of the trailer, other times there isnt. Rather than constantly changing the hitch/weight distribution bars, I use the air bags and on board compressor.

Go Super Duty! 11,000 lbs is right at the limit of a "properly equipped" F150. Hell 11,000lbs is a load for a F-250. Make no mistake, 11,000lbs is alot! Get yourself some Leway with bigger brakes and drivetrain, go with a superduty!

I just saw you already have a F-350. What is your reason for wanting an F-150? (not bad mouthing, I loved my 150)

Growing tired of the diesel. The modern diesel has no benefit over a gasser other than pure torque. These newer diesels are problematic and expensive to fix so I am looking to a gasser instead.
Having said that, I figured since I am planning to reset the clock and start over I would evaluate if I really need the heavier truck since the same engine is available in both 150/250 versions. I havent owned a gasser or a half ton since 1999 so I am evaluating all options and really value the opinions found on here.

Oh yeah, my last F150 was a 1997 and the newer 150's are FAR superior in comparison so I figured I had to at least consider them. When I started going with super duty's a F150 would only tow 7k pounds or something like that. At 10-11k the super duty was the only choice. No longer the situation these days though.

One thing... Looks like there are some requirements/restrictions for getting the 6.2L in a F-150... At least this is how I interpret it..

To get a 6.2 in a F-150 it must be:

-Lariat
-Super Crew
-5.5 foot bed

I chose the F150 Lariat with the 6.2L. I am towing about 8000 lbs. I would NEVER consider towing more than that with my F150 EVEN if the engine could pull it. Definitely go with the Super Duty if you're going to tow more than 8k.

go with the Super Duty and thank me later..

You never know what you may end up towing in a few years. Years ago, I had a F150, then 250 and finally a 350. I was always towing more than I thought I would later. I had the opportunity to downsize as what I tow has decreased lately, but I bought an F350, just because I never know. Get the bigger truck, you won't regret it.

I was originally in the market for an F-150 but when they jumbled up the options on the 2011 F150's I went with the F250 with the max tow package and never looked back. I probably will never max out the towing limit of the F250 but really love it and am glad I didn't go F150. Sooner have a bit too much truck rather than not enough truck.
