6.4 to 6.2
I traded my 2008 F 350 SRW cc FX4 6.4 for a 2011 F 250 SRW cc Lariat 6.2 last week , so far so good !

How do you guys think the 6.2 compares to V10? My dad bought a 2001 w/ V10 and auto new and is still driving it, I'm thinking hes going to get one of these 6.2 v8's next go round. I've done about all the bolt ons you can do except forced induction, and my 460 can still beat the crap out his V10 in power and mileage department. They have come along way since then so I'm expecting a big difference between the v10 and 6.2. I've never driven any of the 3 valve v10's so I cant compare them. I've had several people they liked them quite a bit better than the 2 valve.

I had a 2000 V10 (3.73's) for almost 11 years, loved the truck and it was rock solid the entire time I owned it. Having said that, my 6.2 with the 4.30's would just about blow the doors off my old truck. My 2000 only had a K&N filter kit and aftermarket exhaust.
If you're looking for better mileage than a V10, don't expect much of an improvement, if any (depending on your gearing). I used to get ~13mpg's city on my V10, then I lifted it and avg'ed about 8-9mpg. I'm getting about 10-11 city in the new truck (it's stock). It's starting to increase slightly as my idling time has dropped significantly with winter being over. 75 more hp in the 6.2 than the 2v V10 (25lb ft less of torque though), 6 speed trans vs 4 speed, and 3.73's vs 4.30's. It's a huge difference... |
