anyone done a cat delete on a 6.2?

In the past I have always chopped the cats on my 460's and gutted them on my cummins.

Has anyone done a delete on a 6.2 super duty? I have seen off road pies on thr Raptor 6.2's

It's my way of letting people know I'm subscribed to this thread ;)

For whatever reason you would even WANT to remove the cats from a brand-new truck and void your warranty, and the obvious problems you need to work around in terms of the "aft" O2 sensors and the catalyst monitors in the PCM, this is sure to generate some controversy.

If you really want your exhaust to smell, or to poison yourself and/or your family with carbon monoxide, go right ahead.

Let the party begin... :-bigparty

My 2011 F250 6.2 just came off warranty(at 80,000 kms because it has an over 8400 kg gvw ?????) and the cat is plugged.NO WARRANTY.I am not happy. Will not spend the $2500.00 they want to put on new one.PO420 AND PO430 CODE COMES EVERY TIME I fill up.Tech thinks valve in fuel tank is flooding engine when I fill, causing the exess in cat.I hope there is a way to bypass this.If anyone has an answer I would be grateful.

I pulled my cats off. I have the 5 star tune so It doesnt throw a code.
I woud have left themoff but the tuck sounded horrible. Tey were only off the truck for about a 1/2 mile and they went back on.

job250 02-27-2012 09:08 PM

Thanks will follow up with 5 star.

bcrispy 02-27-2012 09:30 PM

I cant emphasize how bad the exhaust sounds without the cat.
In the past I would pull the cats off of my 460's. the exhaust would get a deaper more throuty sound. the 6.2 sounds like ass with the stock muffler and no cats.

I woul look towards the Raptor forums. a lot of the Raptor guys are running 6.2l with no cats, lomgtubes and a performance exhaust

Thanks bcrispy,I talked to Mike this a.m and am going to order a tune from him.

job250 02-28-2012 10:34 PM

Ordered from Mike at 5 star, looking forward to better performance. The funny sounding exhaust will be better than the sound of $2,500.00 going out for new cat!!!

We don't go through the smog checks here, and to update, ordered a programer from Mike at 5 star.Had cats taken off, truck is louder, but o.k.Noticed better fuel figures right away, but that is probably the lack of restriction.I am really looking forward to see what the new program will do.Will keep you all posted.

job250 03-12-2012 11:41 PM

Well, just installed the sct program.Put it on 87 performance, took a little zip,and very nticeable difference in throttle responce, and shifting. Will update on mileage.

job250 04-15-2012 10:56 PM

Just an update, mileage is up about one mile per gallon over all, maybe a little more.Sounds good to me out the exhaust too.I am really impressed when I use 91 octaine, as it drives and runs so good on 87 performance, and I have to check the mileage again, but think it is about one and a half better.

I'm curious if anybody has figured this out yet? I bought my truck a year ago (over 100k miles). As soon as the ink dried the MIL came on and po420&430 popped up. I took it to ford and (trying to be nice to me) told me to take it to a local muffler shop and replace the cats instead of paying well over 2k for factory ford cats. Well, as you can guess, that didn't fix anything. Catalytic converters getting plugged are a symptom not a cause. Well, I have spent countless hours and dollars and can't figure out what's going on. Ford was useless, told me that I would have to replace the cats with factory and retest. Thanks a lot guys! I wound up installing o2 extension plugs on the cats so the MIL would go off. Of course my LTFT and STFT are well over 10%. The truck cranks forever on startup before firing. My starter is getting worn out. Just had to replace my battery. I'm hoping someone has some insight because I'm about to the point of rodding out my cats and trying to find a tuner. Oh and now my transmission is shifting all funny, like upshifting before it's ready. Has anybody successfully deleted there catalytic converters?
