The boss is in meetings the rest of the day... I think I will slack into the weekend after my 1:30 meeting. It will probably take me two hours just to fill out my time sheet for all the crap I've worked on this week.

67nukeford 04-08-2011 12:43 PM

Well, at least you'll get a little slack time. And it is Friday, so that's a good thing!

cowboywanabe 04-08-2011 04:16 PM

Sheesh, two more new problems popped up after lunch. But, I am slacking now, I have no mental capacity left... Some might say I never had any to begin with... Lol

67nukeford 04-10-2011 06:31 AM

Good morning South Dakota, welcome to Sunday!

Rushmore X 04-10-2011 06:50 AM

Morning Pat and Everyone else. Back to the grind for me....

67nukeford 04-10-2011 06:51 AM

Morning Trent, you and me both. Started our refueling outage today, 12 hours days, with Fridays off. Ug.

67nukeford 04-11-2011 06:30 AM

Good morning South Dakota!

sddesigns 04-11-2011 07:54 AM

Good Morning SD! :)

Happy New Week! :D

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 08:35 AM

Good morning South Dakota, Monday has arrived and it has to be better than last week... I hope.... :(

Wow, crazy weather around here Saturday night. We just missed the tornado warning area on Saturday night. Had quite the lightening show to the south of here.

Here is a video link to the one that slammed Mapleton, Iowa... That's about 40 miles or so from here.

sddesigns 04-11-2011 08:45 AM

Howdy Rob, thats wild!

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 08:48 AM

Yeah it is Steve... I hate this time of year around here. The weather alert radio was going off non-stop for about an hour or so Saturday evening.

67nukeford 04-11-2011 08:54 AM

Morning Rob. We missed all of that. I can fix that radio for you....the off switch.....LOL!!

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 09:01 AM

I finally did turn it off, it gets too annoying when there are storms all around. I figure if our local tornado sirens go off, then it's time to head under ground.

sddesigns 04-11-2011 09:28 AM

So you have a underground shelter Rob?

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 10:18 AM

Not really Steve, my house is split level. The lower level of the house is only half underground. But, we've got a lower basement utility room below that, and it is completely underground. It's about 15x15, and has one small window. From what I've seen of tornado damage photos, it should work well as a storm shelter. I suppose the window could be a problem, I've thought about installing some sort of cover on it.

sddesigns 04-11-2011 10:36 AM

Maybe an inside metal hatch...

67nukeford 04-11-2011 10:41 AM

Or just block it in, if your worried about it...

sddesigns 04-11-2011 10:58 AM

If you put a steel plate over the inside, it's the vacuum force so it couldn't come off and the steel will be out of the elements indoors!

67nukeford 04-11-2011 10:59 AM

Or, he could build himself one of those kevlar enclosures. We go under our basement stairs, I reinforced it for just that purpose.

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 01:47 PM

You guys are just full of suggestions today, lol. What time can I expect you to show up and do this project for me? I'll be glad to supervise. }>

One of the new houses we looked at before buying our current house had a storm shelter in the basement. That particular builder put them in all his homes. It was just a four concrete walled room with a heavy steel door. And I think it was located in the north east corner of the basement... can't remember, but one specific corner is supposed to be best for a storm shelter.

67nukeford 04-11-2011 01:57 PM

That is kind of neat that the builder would do that.

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 02:14 PM

If I were to build a new house in this part of the country, I'd be doing it. It would be easy and not cost much... Of course, I may want to add a couple upgrades so I could use it as a top-secret man-cave during the off-season! ;)

67nukeford 04-11-2011 02:21 PM

Now your thinking!!LOL

Get a fridge ( you know, for those emergency provisions....Like beer), and a flat screen that swings down from the ceiling (so you can keep track of the storm..Yeah, that's it!)

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 02:28 PM

Great idea Pat!

Probably should get a back up generator too... would hate to lose power and have the beer get warm, oops, I mean have the kids/wife scared by the darkness.

67nukeford 04-11-2011 02:32 PM

Exactly! And, you should get a lock on the door. You don't want the kids bothering you in...I mean...You don't want them playing in there, when your doing your weekly drills..

sddesigns 04-11-2011 02:59 PM

and don't forget the liquor cabinet, gotta keep that safe too!

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 03:07 PM

I wonder how much a motorcycle elevator would cost? I'd hate for the bike to be at risk while the rest of the "family" is secure in the shelter!

sddesigns 04-11-2011 03:13 PM

how about the truck too?

cowboywanabe 04-11-2011 03:15 PM

Oh yeah, pretty rude of me to leave the truck behind! Hmmm... I think I'll need a bigger house now, so that I have enough room underneath for the man-cave-emergency-shelter-garage! }>

sddesigns 04-11-2011 03:16 PM

Just build it the same footprint as the house except one floor below the basement.

67nukeford 04-11-2011 03:19 PM

Rob, I think you just need to build an underground complex. You could have it so your entire house sinks into an underground chamber. Storm coming? Down it goes. Storm over? Back up it goes! Brilliant!

sddesigns 04-11-2011 03:19 PM

Just like in the movies...lol

67nukeford 04-11-2011 03:39 PM

Exactly!!!!!

KOESTNER 04-11-2011 09:15 PM

Good evening South Dakota! Hope everyone is safe after the storms.

sddesigns 04-12-2011 05:03 AM

Good Morning SD! :)

Happy Tuesday! :D

67nukeford 04-12-2011 06:46 AM

Good morning South Dakota!

cowboywanabe 04-12-2011 08:24 AM

Good morning South Dakota! Howdy Steve, Pat!

Another terrible warm and sunny day here, looks like I'll be forced to get the motorcycle out again... }>

67nukeford 04-12-2011 08:25 AM

Morning Rob........

Get out and hate that ride.....LOL!

cowboywanabe 04-12-2011 08:40 AM

About went broke filling the motorcycle tank yesterday, $14 and I wasn't even on "E" yet. It likes premium fuel, which is $4.05/gallon here. Fortunately, it gets 45mpg.

67nukeford 04-12-2011 08:43 AM

$14 dollars.....SHUT UP! You don't even want to know what it costs to fill Black. I try not to let her go much farther than half a tank, it's just too painful.....
