Fuel Pump Relay on 1989 F150

Hi,
Just bought an '89 F150 with a 4.9 automatic. The previous owner told me it needs a fuel pump relay. Can anyone tell me where it is located? I found a block with wiring running to it behind the breather in the driver's side fender wheel well. Is this is it, and if so, how do I access it? If not, I would surely appreciate someone letting me know!
Thanks!

On the 5.0L the Fuel Pump Relay is located under the plastic shield at the air cleaner support bracket.

I am not sure if the 4.9 is in the same location or not, but it might be.

Hope this helps.

Thank you! This confirms what I thought. Now I just have to figure out how to access it. Does the relay just unplug? Thanks again!

It is a tight fit, but yes the relays just plug in. I find they are tough to remove. Maybe someone else has a "trick" to getting them unplugged a little easier?

Fuel relay swi

It is behind the air cleaner under a black holder and it is the green one (if it is not after market) and the easiest way I have found to pull them out is with a small flat head screw driver or a flat feeler gauge slid up the side of the relay. Facing the vehicle the clip should be on the right side and they are not easy to pull out.

Thanks for the info, but this thread is almost 12 months old.

Thanks for all the info. You will all be happy to know that I have successfully replaced the relay. Thanks again!
