Ford Installed Auto Start

Has anyone gotten the Auto Start with their trucks? I opted for this yet I have been reading that the ones installed in 2010 shut off when the door is opened. Just curious to see if it is still doing the same for 2011.

Mine does not shut off when opening the door. Now if you get in and put your foot on the brake before putting the key in the ignition and turning to the on position....then it shut's off.

Thanks - I hope that is the case. I'll find out next week when they deliver the truck to my house.

It will stay running with the doors open.

Thanks - The article I read was from a F150 forum and escape so was not sure if those problems carried over to the install in to the Super Duties. I hate running out to the truck when it's below 0 and blowing. Had this in my 99 F350. The price was a little more then what I could of gotten but that would require another 14-hr drive to get it done. Plus heck they are willing to drive the truck 600 miles to drop it off so I'll throw a few extra dollars for that...

Well in Alaska I would want one for sure! http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/th_laugh.gif

That sucks that you don't get to put the first 600 miles on it. I'm sure you will love it though. Be sure to post up some pics in the "new truck" thread. :)

Stays running on the 2011. Open the doors get in put the key in turn it on and watch the guages all flip to the right and then back to the left and the settle into the running mode positions. Never thought I would like it but I use it a lot even if it is not cold. This is the first rig I have that has the remote start. The other 2 rigs don't have remote start but you don't have to put a key in just have the key fob in your pocket and use the push to start button and it fires up. Boy are we all getting spoiled. :p

Talked with dealer today via email. It is not the "Ford" auto start but an aftermarket they utilize. They stated it's a better version then stock... Should have that done today and bedliner done tomorrow. Looks like next week they will drive it over. I have to put my (4) LF 240 up front but have to get a new bar for those. Last truck they were on the Headache Bar. Have to get Studded tires for this winter but otherwise will keep as is for a little while.

Did you get the LCD productivity screen? I'm curious to know if the aftermarket unit will integrate and be a menu choice like the stock unit is.

mlb4966 03-24-2011 11:40 PM

No my choices were limited. They had (3) 6.2 on the lot. All the same except color. To order one and get shipped up here takes some time. I'm not complaining although the productive unit is nice. This will be a combo personal/work truck so I stayed away from the Lariet. Nice truck just too nice for business... My 06 was a testiment to that.

I just wish I could of gotten the D-Plan on F450. They had a CC with 10' flat bed that I really wanted but for the price I'll continue to drag around trailers...

fz1dave 03-25-2011 01:12 AM

Yeah I bet the choices are limited. Too bad about the 450, that would have been nice for you by the sounds of it.

The productivity screen is an option on the XLT which is the only reason I have it. The Lariat and Bling Ranch weren't on my list.

For the cost of fuel, the distance to travel and time I'll ship now instead of hauling. I will miss my flatbed but have to sell to get this one. Looking at Leer commercial 180 top with side tool boxes yet have to figure out available height through garage door first.

mlb4966 03-26-2011 02:22 AM

Well was emailed its an Automate AM6. Look on the internet. So-so unit. All I really want is autostart. Not worried about the security. S&W takes care of that along with his friend G27. What sucks is they are charging me $400 for the unit and install. I understand time is money but I guess I should look at it as the fact "I won't have to deal with it". Other positive side - warranty will cover it...

That's how my 09 factory installed remote start is.

The only down side to Fords autostart is no confirmation the vehicle actually started. After market units provide confirmation your truck is running.
