6.4 Belt Tensioner Replacement
k guys for those who dont want to pay the $400. for the dealer to replace your belt tensioner that "will" come apart if it hasent already out of warrantee, its actually easy if you dont follow the sevice book
from the top of the engine get a 3' bar and push down on the tensioner, then put the pin in to lock it (i made one out of a welding rod) then unbolt it and pull through the bottom of the fan shroud. bolt the new one on, push down on tensioner again and pull pin thats it your done:-X06 A special thanks to Sr Master Tech Rusty for the tips :-bigparty |

when the break, yes they come apart my dealer said they are seeing a rise in broke tensioners

new one comes with the lock pin in it already?

yes lockpin in it from ford not sure about a jobber part

just use a nail. works great as a pin.

Do any of you guys that work on them regularly suggest replacing the other a/c belt and tensioner when you replace the primary? Mine has been chirping a little... looked down and saw the body of the primary tensioner is cocked and the belt is riding more foward, so im gnna replace it asap just wondering if i should do the other one while im in there. Thanks
