Pilot bushing/bearing removal
Whats the best way to remove the pilot bearing or bushing, whatever its called? Monday night I am putting in my solid flywheel and clutch from valair and the new pilot bearing and am not sure how easy the original is going to come out.

You have a used flywheel?
or your using a used bearing? The valair kit comes with a new pilot bearing. Kinda confused on what your asking. I used a socket to put mine in. |
I thought it was pretty clear lol, I want to know how to remove the old pilot bushing? Wasnt sure if it was called a bearing or a bushing. But I just want to know the best way to remove the old one. And its a new clutch and flywheel from valair with a new pilot bearing that I am putting in.:-X04

oh, your just playing.
Just use a socket or something to hammer it out from the back side of the clutch. there are bushings and bearings for the pilot. |
I thought the bushing was pressed into the back of the crank shaft?
|
no, its in the flywheel.
Midnight Mods: Dual Mass Flywheels For Dummies There is a hole in the center of the flywheel, you just press or hammer it into the face and make sure its flush. |
Thats cool, the only experince I have with the pilot bushing is in older GM's. They are pressed into the crankshaft. They are fun to get out. This will be much easier, Thanks.:-X04
