How can I repair my holley???
I was driving to the store today and on the way back I noticed a strong gas smell. I went back home, opened the hood, and saw gas dripping under my air filter! Took the filter off, I thought the line wasn't screwed in tight, but when I wiggled it the whole thing just fell off! It seems like the previous owner just had it pushed on there.
What would be the best way to fix this, without buying a new carb? Would JB Weld work? I really don't have the cash to buy a new one right now! https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/p...ictureid=60583 |
Looks like someone jammed the wrong fitting into the inlet threads and stripped them out. You can buy a new replacement bowl for about $25 or stop by some local repair/speed shops and ask around. There's usually a bucket of old Holleys laying around for spare parts.

Replacing the front bowl is the best way to fix it.

Thanks guys!!! That's great news, how do I go about finding out what model I have? I can't find any numbers on it.

While you are at it, I would probably buy a gasket kit for it. I rebuilt a 600 double pumper on my maverick with a Holley "quick kit" that i got from o'reilleys for about 35 bucks. There are also rubber o-rings on the transfer tube that should probably be replaced as well. Those should come with the kit.

Ok, I'll buy the gasket kit too. I'm searching for the bowl now, without knowing the model #, this one looks like it: Holley 134-101 - Holley Fuel Bowls - Overview - SummitRacing.com
Will it work? Also, I've never rebuilt a carb before, what problems will I run into when I take the bowl off? |
Take that black plastic spacer piece off and you will see some numbers on the carb.
It looks like a plain old 4160 though. |

Also, the good thing about buying the holley kits is they usually come with blue non-stick bowl gaskets which makes things alot easier if the bowls ever have to come off again for anything in the future. |

Thanks guys! I called all of the parts stores in my area and none of them had it in stock. So I ordered it from Summit.
For anyone else that may run into this same problem, the carb is: Holley 65-80457 (4160), Fuel Bowl/Holley 134-101, Inlet Fitting/Holley 26-25 Thanks again guys! |
So how'd it work out for you?
I've used the 80457's on several engines, good carbs. |
