92 F-150, duel tank fuel system

I have a 92 f-150 extended cab 4x4 with duel tanks, the truck quit running on the front tank so i switched to the rear tank. The truck will run on the rear tank, but it is pumping the gas from the rear tank to the front tank. Can anyone tell me if this is a pump problem or a valve problem? Any help i can get would be great. Thanks:-X09

It is a valve problem in the front tank.

It will require replacement of front tank pump assy, the valves are built in. After you fix this you may have the poblem I have I described here https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...ed-issues.html

92 F-150, duel tank fuel system

Thanks for the help. I have talked to 2 dealerships that said there was a frame mounted switching unit but i could not find it, had a buddy that used to work for a ford dealer look at it and could not find it. I'm going to replace the front pump. Thanks again for the info.

A 1992 F150 does not have a frame mounted switching unit.
Dealerships do not understand F-series trucks fuel systems from 1985-1995.
The last F-series gas truck to have a frame mounted switching unit was the 1989.

They had me puzzled i was looking all over the place under that truck and could not find one. The said it should be on the frame and thought i didn't know what i was talking about. So the valve is in the pump unit itself then?
