What do you tow with your 6.2L?
 

Well we tow a 10k 5ver with our 6.2L and does just great. I talked to a nice gentlemen today that tows a 15k lb 5ver that stepped out of a f450 diesel and stepped into a f350 6.2L 4.30 gears 8D and said he was honestly impressed with the gas motor and how it handled the weight. He said at 60-66 mph towing the rig that it would avg 7-8 mpg and on some hills he would use the manual mode to keep it from shifting from 5,6 6,5 ect.. but over all at this weight he was satisfied with the truck... Pretty interesting call since he was at maximum Ford rated weight.
Oh and i think he said he towed from TN to AZ and was heading back in a couple of months... So what are the rest of you guys towing?

Not sure what is wrong.. Problems making this post...This is the "base load" behind the 2001.. Usually I've got a couple of attachments so I can get this load over the recommended weight by fords standards--- if I want...

Currently an '08 Outback 23KRS weighing approx. 7500 lbs. loaded. Hopefully this spring we'll be trading up and going to a 30 footer.

I pulled the camper about 20 miles to dump my tanks before winter but haven't taken it out for "real" yet. I will say that the 6.2 pulls noticeably better than the 5.4 I had in my F150.

This is all great news for me, as I wait for my truck to be built. I will be pulling a 25 foot, 11.5 foot high toy hauler, with a gross trailer weight around 10,000# when loaded. My poor 6.0 diesel only gets 9 to 9.5 mph pulling this thing, so I am hoping for 8 with the 6.2. 3 weeks till delivery so says Ford. Can't wait!

Pulled with my 6.2 this weekend. 4.30 gears 4x4. I have a center console cat with t top 2 honda 4 strokes and 170 gallons of gas. 65 mph yielded 7.5 by hand and 7.6 on the gauge. Dodge cummins got 8.5 with same load and speed.

I have a 30 ft 5th wheel with 2 slides. Fully loaded it weighs about 9,000 lbs but can go higher if my wife takes all her stuff. :-D

It is a 2011 Forest River Signature Ultr-Lite model 8285WS

Just returned to Michigan from trip to Florida and back with 2011 F350 super cab 4X4 6.2 with 3.73 gears. Load was a slide in truck camper with 14 foot enclosed cargo trailer. Load weight was 7000lbs+- a little. Traded a F 350 with V10 and 373 gears and this new truck pulls as well or better than old one. New transmission is very good and allows better gear selection. Much of trip was with 6th gear locked out and mpg for 4700 miles was 9.5. About same or little better than V10. Truck was much more pleasant to drive though since it did not shift too often which for some reason tends to bug me. Easily accelerated on any hill if you are willing to run some of the time in 4th gear. So far very pleased with this combination for pulling.

Welcome to FTE! Thanks for posting. Sounds like you've got a pretty darn good replacement for your V10.

Have you actually weighed this? The 23KRS weighs about 5100 pounds empty. I know we don't have 1500 pounds of stuff in our 36' fiver ready to camp for a week. Just curious.

Just to clarify you stayed in 5th gear most of the 4,700 miles?
Did the truck stay in 6th on the flat highway at all or just kept downshifting to 5th?

It would do fine on flat roads or minor hills but with a double dose of wind from camper and enclosed trailer any head wind with hills would cause shifting so I chose to run in fifth gear at about 2300 rpm and milage was same as when pulling harder in sixth so that seemed best. without wind issues or if I chose to slow down it would pull in sixth gear much better. I drive about 68 to 70 mph. In fifth gear final drive ratio is still a fairly tall 3.15 to 1.
