1976 f-250 bicentennial package

I have a 1976 F-250 4x4, 54,000 original miles. It has the Bicentennial package from Ford. I am in the process of rebuilding the motor due to it sitting idle for so long. the next step is the body, but I am unsure if I should try to resurrect the decal package that originally came with it? I have searched all over the internet and check with local shop about how to find them, all have come up empty or going to a sign shop for custom, hand done, decals. Any recommendations out there of how to proceed....OR where I could find some original decals? Oh and the body has to small rust spots and is dent free, hence why I have to get it repainted causing the original decals that are there, faded and cracked, to have to be removed and possibly replaced. I would attach a pic, i'm just not sure how.

I don't think you'll find original decals and if you did they probably wouldn't be any good anyway. Best thing to do is to take pictures and have a custom shop replicate them for you.

I did a parts search for you and came up empty handed. Sorry.
Here are the part numbers though.
Bicentenial stripe kit:
Complete cab
D6TZ-1320000-A

8' bed w/ tool box
D6TZ-9920000-A

8' Bed w/o tool box
D6TZ-9920000-B

Like bucks77ford said, if I did locate any it would be strictly a crap-shoot on whether they would still be any good. The stripe kits had a shelf life of about two years.

the best thing to do is have them painted on so there is no problem with them peeling an coming off.

thanks guys, I appreciate all the advice. I think the painting option is the way I will end up going, assuming it doesn't break the bank. Also thanks mikeo0o0o0 for the part numbers, that is awesome!

My Dad ordered a brand new 1976 F-250 Super Cab, 2 wheel drive with the bicentennial package. It was a white truck with the gold stripe/eagle down the sides, and the same red, white and blue cloth seat as pictured above, the back flip seat was plain blue vinyl.
There was a de-lay at the factory when it was being built because they had'nt planed on the extra piece of decals for the super cab. In 1979 that truck was in an accident and the Ford dealer had a hard time locating the decals back then.
I still have the "1776-1976" eagle that was on the glove box door-It's on my fridge door now !!
I was Googling the Bicentennial Edition Ford pick ups to show a friend that had never seen or heard of them when I found this thread and had to join up just to talk about Dad's rare truck !!
Thanks for letting me share it with you.
