93 Lightning EEC Failure?

Hi, I'm hew here but love the site. Everyone has been extremely helpful. Here's my question....The EEC fried in my 93 Lightning 5.8 351w e4od, should I replace it with the same exzact one? Should I go with aftermarket? I have a vortech geared supercharger w/ the whole set up on it, can the stock eec be programmed for mods?

I think your best bet is just getting an OEM one. Make sure the codes are all the same. There are different codes for different transmissions as well. Orielly or Advance may be able to get one.

What does Vortech recommend?

Just wondering, how did it get fried?

Need to know a little more about the modifications; are you running an FMU with a timing retard or does it have a chip in the J3 port of the ECU?

Yes I have the FMU setup. I'm having trouble finding the part now :(

You can try looking on nloc.net, in the classifieds for a used ECU. You'll at least want to try and get a factory type ECU like C3P1, C3P2, C3P3 or ICY1 because the transmission settings are a little more aggressive, and the timing tables are different between a GEN 1 and F-150. Otherwise, any 5.8/E4OD (pre OBD-2) ECU from that era would work

Is the motor running rough, will it even start?

It starts and runs but really rough, I have the ecm out of it now and I'm tryin to find a replacement for that exact model

If you're running a boost/timing retard, try bypassing it first. It is not uncommon for one to go bad, or have wiring problems, and cause the motor to run bad.
