The fastest F-150 EVER !!!

I wonder if Ford will sue for name infringement...

If "F150" is not copyrighted in Italy, probably not.

A agree that would be the fastest one though. :)

Back in the late 60's when the Ford Mustang was shipped over to Germany, they had to name it "T5" rather than "Mustang" because "Mustang" was already being used by another auto manufacturer at that time.

Like fz1dave mentioned, if it's not already being used in Italy, F150 is probably fair game for anyone

The question is can we get the engine into a US spec F150?

DJR 17 01-28-2011 11:49 PM

Wait till the middle of the season it'll get faster, so technically your title is wrong,:) ! It's a shame tho that the cheaters picked that number for this years car.

It should fit ...it's only a 2.4L V8:)

that puts out 800 to 900 HP at 19,000 RPM!

Unfortunately, the engine alone is probably norht of $500K

Guess what........

Report: Ford will attempt to stop Ferrari from using F150 name [UPDATE] — Autoblog

I wonder if you will be able to order an F150 long bed Ferrari(?)

fz1dave 02-10-2011 02:51 AM

AFAIK a trademark in the USA doesn't entitle you to worldwide protection, no matter how well known the "brand" may be. There isn't enough info in those articles to determine what Fords' case really is. Personally I think they're pi$$ing in the wind.

If Ford had an Italian trademark, I'm sure Ferrari wouldn't have used "F150".

We shall see...

Looks like Ferrari decided to rename:

Report: Ferrari bows to Ford legal pressure, renames F1 car F150th Italia [*UPDATE] — Autoblog

Bdox 02-10-2011 12:16 PM

Well that's a minor concession..........

It does seem to me that Ford has little to fear from Ferrari naming their Formula I car F150.
If the legal department had spoken to the marketing department, instead of looking like a bunch of curmedgeons, they might have made a coup out of Ferrari copying Ford! Beside the fact that Ferrari doesn't ever sell their Formula I cars to the public, it seems like a win for Ford to have it named F150. In my mind, it might actually add some prestige to the Ford F150, and they might have used it by putting the Ferrari in Ford truck adds........... I can imagine a lot of cool possibilities there. Ferrari red trucks. A blue oval bracketed by prancing horses. A Ford truck delivering the Ferrari Formula cars to Monaco. Stacking three or four Ferrari FI F150's in the bed of a Ford F150 then have them come flying out like hornets coming out of their nest! On and on. In any case, Ford should get their collective "mind right!"

powerstroke72 02-10-2011 12:41 PM

Bruce I think one of the things this does is show other companies that Ford isn't going to risk someone using the F150 name for anything else. It's their cash cow. I think they are just trying to set the precedent here. If they let this one go and tried to stop the next, that company is going to cite them not taking action against Ferrari.

FWIW, I agree with you that Ford had little to fear from Ferrari using the F150 name.

You know what they say about publicity. Any is good. I don't think it would have had any negative effect on Ford. As Bdox said, it may have even worked to their advantage.

It coulda been worse. How does "KIA F150" sound? http://i190.photobucket.com/albums/z...s/th_laugh.gif

Mmmmm.... sounds like "squash a roach" to me.

But yes, Ferrari is a prestige brand. They are throwing away a great publicity coup and instead end up looking stodgy, to their own detriment instead.

LxMan1 02-10-2011 04:13 PM

It's not a F150 anymore. Ford filed a lawsuit today for copyright violations.
