Why is it so hard to find a CC SD with a 6.2L and Nav?

I can't find a single one in any configuration of crew cab with nav. I just wanted to see what it compared to the 6.7 cost-wise on the regular market, not build-your-own.

I think for the same reason I could not find one with a moon roof. Probably not a huge market for those higher types of vehicles with a gasser.

Steve, try searching on cars.com. They had several on there the other night with nav and pretty much everything else in both 6.2 and 6.7.

I have a CC Lariat with a moonroof, but not the NAV.

Interesting question. The short answer (I believe) has already been said. These trucks are in VERY high demand right now. Too many people have gotten a flavor for diesel trucks with DPF Systems, and they are looking down other avenues. Plain and simple.

As an example, when my 6.4 went in for the 6th time, I told the sales manager to give me a trade in value, and find me a 2011 F350 Crew Cab with 6.2, like NOW!!

He came back with 5 trucks, all of which I would want. 4 of the trucks already had downpayments on them by the time we called, and I will add, my dealer wasted no time at all trying to find me one. 5th truck was a custom order truck that somebody bailed on. I guess I was in the right place at the right time, however it was in Maryland and I am in Connecticut. No problem, they just shipped it up here.

As a comparison, my truck also has navigation, the Lariat interior package which includes the heated and air conditioned seats, and basically everything in a truck that you would ever want... Everything. Sticker was $51k. Nearest and most comparable diesel I found was $61k. Add $8k for the 6.7 liter diesel, and God only knows how much money for all of the Urea it takes......

In short, you better REALLY make sure you need that extra torque when you jump to a 6.7. Seat of the pants wise, my 6.2 feels way better. Not sure how it would run up against a 6.4 or a 6.7 in an all out drag race, but I'm betting its mighty close.

Strokt350d, your logic is very similar to mine. The extra cost of the diesel pickup could no longer be justified for the 10 times I think I might want it to pull my 10000# toy hauler. The rest of the time, just cruising around empty. If I go 45 mph up some of the hills here instead of 60, I will still be smiling, thinking of all money I am saving and what I hope is far less troubles than the 6.0 liter diesels I have had. Now I just have to wait till mid March when it arrives.

Come to Texas. Since we are the SUV/Truck capital of the world. I was in the same boat but was able to find a few here. I just purchased king ranch with nav.

Seems like all the dealers in the central NJ area have at least 1 or two 6.2 lariats on the lot and they usually have the ultimate pkg which includes the NAV. There are of course more of the XLT 6.2s on the lots that usually don't have as many options.

Most (all?) of the 6.7s on the lots that I've seen are usually Lariats or KRs therefore loaded.

I guess once you're hitting someone for 8k+ for the diesel option, perhaps the cost of the rest of the options seem immaterial.?.

I ordered my KR and I did order it with the NAV package but I have used Garmin portable GPSs for years and in some cases I still like it better than the built in ones. When I bought my last Garmin it was the 1490T and at the time it was right at $500 for it. I can take it into the house with me and update it and if I'm interested in driving some back roads I can map it in my Mapsource program and then download it to my GPS. I have had or still have 5 Garmin GPS units and even with the NAV in my truck the Garmin 1490T will still be mounted to the lower driver side of the front window in my truck.

There are just times you can't beat the Garmin.

My wife's last 3 rigs have had the factory built ins and she talked me into ordering the truck with one. They are nice if you stay on the pavement all of the time but start taking forest service roads and they are then getting out of their element.

This IMO

Butch, I have found the same logic on regular ROADS here in ohio. That is one of the reasons I want the Nav - my travels have me in so many areas I am not used to going it helps me get around. On some of my travels it doesn't like the roads I go on at all - miles of single lane farm roads, most not even paved. If I have a general idea of where I am and where I am going I can jump on any road I want and the Nav system compensates, recalculates, and I'm still good to go.

As for the 6.2 in my original comparison - things look like they're holding out OK on insurence so I am getting a new 6.7. That was the best outcome of the situation so I am happy. I have a couple dealers looking around and all the trucks so far are Lariat Ultimate's. I guess thats about the only way to get the Nav. I wouldn't mind an XLT, but unless I order it I'm not going to get it. Once insurence hits I've got 5 days to dump my rental. I don't think a truck can be built in that period of time :-D

Not sure what model you are looking for, but you can't get the NAV in the XL or XLT package. I tried when I ordered mine and the dealer said I must go up to the Lariat, that was fine, then I found out it was $7000 more then the XLT. Just going to buy a really nice $300 GPS for the truck. I didn't want the leather seats anyways.

Another option is using your cellphone with Sync, if you have Sync. Works pretty good. All you get is verbal commands though... and you have to have a compatible phone.. which may not work in all areas.... Ford actually has a Sync Destinations app for phones, like the Droid. Cool little app..

Other option is to look at a double din aftermarket stereo/nav unit... I will probably go this route eventually. Right now I have to many other things on my "must get" list! LOL

kmonty2 02-07-2011 05:05 PM

I know what your saying. Everyday I think of something new I want to get when the truck comes in. Just got my window sticker online. Now I'm trying to figure out if it has been built yet. Getting close.

:-drink

I had to order mine because all I can find was CC 4x4 with 6.7L diesels. No place in the nation had one like I wanted.

Sop here is my configuration
F-250 SuperCab, 4X2, 6.2L. Royal Red/Beige 2 tone, with Lariat pkg, sprayed in bed liner and 5th wheel prep. Now I have to wait 8 weeks.

Don't worry about how long it takes, it will be well worth it. Getting what you want instead of what Ford wants you to have. And 8 weeks go by fast too.

I felt the same way when I ordered mine, but very happy now that I got it.
