Zip's 75 F150 Project

Here are a few shots of my project truck as it looked when I got it. Starting in the spring the work will begin with work on the donor cab and box.

Hopefully I can keep this updated.

This is the donor cab and box. Maybe the front clip/rad support too. The sweet thing about this cab is no leaky sun roof.

Hey Chris, I am sure you will keep us up to date on what is happening:)

Nice project trucks you have.

Here are a few more pictures of my donor cab and box. They are both ready to be removed from the frame.

The little hole in the floor near the rocker panel is one of two on the whole cab. Also the only dent on the cab.

Pictures of the box. It's gong to need a lot of work. It is in much better shape than my current box.

I thought of doing complete box sides but don't really want to lose the toolbox and don't really want to cut a new box side to add the tool box.

Hopefully I can get motivated enough to pick the cab and box off next week. Going to use a forklift to do the job.

I was going to lose the cab lights but decided it would be easier to keep them on. Wont have any holes to fill that way. Probably go with a different style though.

Ive had a few 78/79's with cab lights.
Those are the right ones for old Fords and they look good when they are lit up.

The thing I don't like about the ones that are on there is that they are one piece. I have a full set that are chrome on the back portion. There are also two other trucks in the yard with the same lights.

quite the project you have there..what are you using for power?? this gonna be a off road toy or duel purpose toy??

Zip 05-02-2011 04:24 PM

It has been my winter truck for a couple years now. From the start the plan was to re-do it. It will be a duel purpose truck. Semi daily driver and maybe some mild off road stuff. My plan is to make it a good 10' truck. All the work will be done by me. I don't know what I will do for this winter though. When I have it finished I may not want to drive it in the winter anymore. My 66 isn't really road worthy and I don't like driving my diesel back and forth to work in the winter. Maybe another truck is in my future.

Right now it has a 360. The engine in the donor truck is a 351. I can turn it over by hand but don't know if it will actually run. So right now the power for it is kind of up in the air.

I like that front end style. Its going to look nice when its all finished. I'm restoring a 1931 model A wide box pickup right now.

Zip 05-05-2011 11:05 PM

I like the front end as well. It's probably that more than anything else that got me hooked on the truck. A 31 sounds like a pretty cool project. You'll have to post up some pics sometime.

sedly 05-07-2011 11:56 AM

That style of front end looks the best IMO as well.
I would like to change my78 Bronco over to that style.
Is the tool box on the donar truck box in good shape Chris?
