Crossed Over To The Lincoln MKT

Traded off the '08 Expedition EL for a 2010 Lincoln MKT. 3.5 EcoBoost.

The MKT is a jewel to drive, though I am not used to having my butt this close to the ground in my daily driver. My wife has a Caddy CTS but, I only get to drive it to the gas station or to the dealer for service.

The EcoBoost was/is the biggest surprise. Twin turbo 355 H.P. is supposed to move this puppy at 0-60 in 5.8 seconds with the AWD. From what I can tell...it lives up to the hype. The CTS is a 3.6 DI that is rated at 0-60 in 5.9, as I recall, so for this heavier ride to keep up with that really says something about Ford power.

Voice activated SYNC is one of the best toys that Ford has come out with in years. Still trying to get my old brain wrapped around all that it does with voice nav, audio, phone, etc.

I got a hell of deal but, now have to find something to tow my trailers and take hunting. Mrs. KW5413 wasn't to keen on the idea of a 6 inch lift and 30 inch mudders.....:-missingt

How about another F250 6.0 psd?

kw5413 01-08-2011 07:57 PM

As good as my '04 6.0 was...I wouldn't risk investing in another.

Has it got the self parking ability?

kw5413 01-11-2011 08:37 PM

Yes. AWD with park assist. But, haven't tested it yet. Not much need for around here unless I go to downtown Dallas....which I only do when required. Like Jury Duty.

So how pricey would one be without some of the higher end options? My daughter is car shopping and she has a good job and still drives 01 Focus. Could she get into a 2010 for under 35k as I don't know what they cost.

kw5413 01-12-2011 11:04 AM

I picked mine up on 12/29. It listed for $ 55,500. They dropped $ 13K off sticker and gave be low KBB for my trade. Which around here is very good as most give low wholesale for trade. The lower end of the MKT food change will not have the 3.5 Eco Boost but I hear the 3.7 is a good engine for this car as well.

While my wife loves her CTS she is thinking her next one may very well be a MKS.

We had a 2009 MKS. The wife loved it! I could never get the lumbar support turned enough off to be comfortable. Lovey got tired of taking the truck everywhere we went together. So after six months, we traded it. Now we are both happy. I do miss the roomy interior though. You did not have to move the front seats at all to accomodate leggy rear seat passengers.

Interesting.... I didn't know Lincoln made a station wagon!

My BLIS doesn't chime. Or my bad ears can't hear it...ha, ha. I like it as a another set of eyes.

For those born before 1990 this would certainly be classified an American Station Wagon. Now it is a go fast crossover. Again, the 3.5 Eco Boost is pretty amazing for this car.

As a side note: "...the last American full size wagons, were discontinued in 1996."

Keith, I thought you crossed over to a.......um.....Suburban :-missingt

kw5413 01-17-2011 07:10 AM

Yep...2007 4x4 Suburban as a matter of fact. Hated it. Kept it for 13 months and got the '08 Expy EL. Now moved on to the MKT.

The more I drive that Eco Boost the more I like it.

And how the hell are you? Hope you have been doing well.

Doing good Kieth, still driving my old bone but have been taking a look at another truck with more doors.
