E4OD tranny with carburetor ?
Can I use an E4OD tranny with a carbureted engine ('91 F-250) ?

yes you could, you would have to run a stand alone controller for it though since it's electronic. if i remember i think baoman engineering had one....

Thanks, that's what I was afraid of. I'd been told by someone that as long as I left the tranny connected to the computer it would be OK with a carb., no mention of a controller. Do you know what the tranny will (or won't) do if I just use a carb. with nothing else added ? Thanks for the help !

i'm not sure about that, but i've never done anything like that. the way i understand it is that the oem computer was designed to run the engine and tranny as one, if it's not getting a signal from the carbed engine i believe it will no let the tranny funtion properly, it may be able to but i doubt it.
i believe the shift points in the transmission are done through the pcm, as well as the tc lock up, wich are both programmed with the engine rpm and load. |
I don't know if anyone here has tried it, but I suppose it would be possible to run a tps on the carb, and then let the ecm control the tranny.... may require some other tinkering to get it to work with the signals from the carbed motor. Otherwise a Baumann controller will run the E4OD. Without a controller or wiring in a tps, you would need a C6 or AOD
