What's your favorite holiday tradition?

I saw this on another site and thought, what the hey, let's see what our FTE peeps say.

To start, one of my favorite traditions was/is to go Christmas shopping with my Dad, Brother, Son and Son in law. We usually did 2 trips, a nothern one and then a southern one. Not a lot of shopping was done, but we always were able to find a great place to eat, chat, and talk about what we needed to by for the wives/gf's.

About 8 years ago, my son moved to FL to attend college and has not been able to "shop" with the group since. He now lives in CA. SteveBricks' neighbor. :)

Well about 5 years ago, Dad told us that his legs wouldn't let him do much walking, he is 82 this year, so he dropped out of the annual trip. He is greatly missed because he usually bought the meal.

3 years ago, the son in law dropped out of the group, tell us he shops online now. The truth be known, it was HIS turn to buy dinner.

2 years ago, my brother, because of the economy, dropped out of the annual shopping trips. Really it was his turn to buy dinner.

So now for 2 years I have had to shop alone, and buy my own dinners. Hopefully the economy with turn around and the Ruff family men can resume their annual tradition.

If any of them are reading this, I'm buying this year! I really miss the fun we have had over the years.

Well Brother George, if you're buying, then where and when do you want to go? :-X10
You do know that you've got plenty of brothers, sisters, and cousins on this site, and that they're all hungry, don't you? :-bigparty

Shopping on Christmas Eve is something that I miss doing, since my wife got me "organized"! :'(

I guess shopping on Christmas Eve is the one that sticks with me the most. That's just the way I do it. Was kinda in a funny place there for a few years with the kids grown & gone Christmas morn was kinda blaa, if you know what I mean. I guess the Good Lord could tell so what do you know I've been blessed (depends how you look at it..lol) with a granddaughter to raise. Christmas morn has been back to wide eyes & smiles for the last few years. We sing Happy Birthday to Jesus & she gets a kick out of that & I try to take time & thank the Lord for all I've been blessed with.

I used to go shopping on Christmas eve. But I never liked it...lol
I do all my shopping on the Internet now and for the last 5 or 10 years now.

I loved putting up a bunch of lights,,,,but that was a wile ago. Kids are gron up now,so it's more work then anything.

My favorite thing is getting together with family that I don't see but 2 times a year. It's always fun. :-X22
