Winter Front?

This morning on the way to work I noticed that throughout my 45-mile one way commute the truck never got up to operating temps.

EOT never got above 175 and the coolant temp gauge stayed to the left of center, indicating colder than normal temp. When it reads this way my ScanGauge shows 165-170 coolant temp.

I figure it must be due to the ~0°F weather we're having up here. I now need a winter front of some kind so the truck can fully warm up!

Does anyone know of a company that makes one for the 2011 SD?

Staples is selling a 36"x36" cardboard square that is supposed to fit a 11'. Good price too....... But to be serious, I think this might work? Looks awful though.

Ford provided one for my brother when he bought his 2008 F350 (it came at no charge with the vehicle). It must have been available that year. I certainly don't see it on my options list for this year. I think it is more for keeping snow out of the intake than restricting cold air coming in.

If you are asking about a winter front, yes, if fully closed and the temp warms up while you are driving or pulling a longer hill, it can/will bring the engine temp up. Either watch the gauge and use the throttle accordingly or open the front a bit. Usually there is a snap or two to open up the winter front without taking it off.

Somebody work a deal with your local canvas shop. Once you have pattern, start taking orders!:-headbang
