Who owns a Mercury truck?

Since there's a thread taking a census of panel owners, I thought I'd start one to find all of the Mercury people here. Only real Mercs need apply. No fake 'badge jobs'. :-X10

Oh, and show 'em if ya got 'em! :-X22

A couple of old pictures of my 56 M100 that`s on it`s way to being a completed truck by this coming spring. Oo.
It`s bigger brother is an F350.

arctic y block 12-06-2010 11:53 PM

Cool Guys. I want a fat fendered Merc so bad I dream of it. I always got one from FTE on my desk top. Looking good Moe.

Fomoko1 12-07-2010 12:23 AM

Not much to look at yet, it`s still in afew too many pieces yet but it was running and driving this spring before the final tear down for paint prep.
If I ever get my 53 M100 finished I`d trade you. :)

arctic y block 12-07-2010 01:11 AM

That's an interesting concept to think on Moe.

iwanaflattie 12-07-2010 02:15 AM

i love mercs...wayne i looooooove that color and specially that patina

Greg M-47 12-07-2010 09:23 AM

Here's a quick note from one more Merc owner. I traded my '48 M-47 for the '49 M-47 that is in pieces right now. This one came from Calgary and wore it's original green and black paint with rust. Maybe back together in 2011 ??!

I'd give my right lug nut for a 56 merc ranger marmon herrington panel!!!!!!

I wish I had one!

49m47 12-07-2010 04:17 PM

Here is one more for the Mercury for the census. I am the proud owner 1949 M47. I can not post a picture yet but they are in my Garage

Did it for you, nice looking truck

49m47 12-07-2010 05:39 PM

Thanks for posting it, I'm sure pleased with it. I'm a little biased.
I guess I need to take some new pictures. My wife pointed out that almost all the pictures I have are the pictures the seller of the truck emailed me. The little picture thats with my user name is actually me pulling into my drive way.

Good eye, that's exactly where it is. He's got quite a collection!

Fomoko1 12-07-2010 06:46 PM

One of the biggest vintage truck collections I`ve ever seen. Usually his prices are not bad.
I`m less than a 70 miles away from him tho it`s a bit of a trip for you.
Do you have any more pictures of your truck and of his place to share?

Unfortunately my dad was cameraman and he didn't get many shots that show the whole bunch - these would be about the best. We figure he's got over 100 trucks there, with probably 80% of them being '48-'56 Fords & Mercs.

Fomoko1 12-07-2010 06:59 PM

Your dad did a great job. :)
It must have been this summer, the year of the endless rains!

WALFORD'S 56 12-07-2010 07:13 PM

Wow ...great pics....I have a buddy with over 200 mopar muscle cars all covered and have guys begging for them ....but he hangs on to them.
I would have to start priming some of these trucks or something to keep them for another 50 years.

Yeah you guys got a LOT of rain there - water laying in fields and ditches everywhere! We were first at Donn's in Sept I believe, then went back to pick up the trucks in early Nov. (my dad got a '59 or '60 Fargo as well)

A few more pics of my truck.

Fomoko1 12-07-2010 07:25 PM

Those mopar`s are worth money but they`re not my thing.
I think you got the better truck! :)

Thanks, me too! My only complaint is that it has a Ford tailgate on it, gonna have to either smooth out the script or hunt down a Merc tailgate.

Fomoko1 12-07-2010 07:44 PM

Even around Canada Mercury tailgates are hard to find. I`ll see if anyone around here has one, if I find one I`ll send an email or a PM to you.

arctic y block 12-07-2010 08:03 PM

I'll try and come down in the spring Moe. And you can take me to Pool's to get me a 48 to 50 Merc. Although I really like the 56 as well. But than who don't. Right.

My quest was for a 54' or earlier. I wanted the flathead.

Fomoko1 12-07-2010 08:10 PM

You have a deal, hopefully it isn`t as wet as it was this past summer.

arctic y block 12-07-2010 08:13 PM

Me too. I got Y Blocks but want a fat fendered flattie.

My Passport was stolen so I need to take care of that. Than rob a small bank as i don't need a lot of money. Just enough. I ain't greedy or nothing. :-X01

4mrdragoon 12-07-2010 08:27 PM

I almost made that trip up to Blaine Lake regret not doing that. Found my 54 M100 here in Winnipeg.

I am unfamiliar with "Y" Block. I looked it up on Wikipedia. Interesting. It listed 5 different sizes, that is in cubic inch displacement. Which do you have?

vintage tin 12-07-2010 09:04 PM

I got two 272's. One is running in my 55 Town Sedan. I use it often even in winter when ever I haul more folks than will fit in the Ranger.

iwanaflattie 12-09-2010 10:36 PM

does the mercury has a shorter hood than a ford...my hood seems to be longer than a merc

Fomoko1 12-09-2010 11:23 PM

As far as I know all the hoods are the same, the trim is different but that`s about it.

52 Merc 12-09-2010 11:28 PM

Thanks everyone for your truck pics! Keep 'em coming! :-X22

The hoods are the same between the Ford and Mercurys. Just about everything is the same, especially the sheet metal and mechanicals, with the exception of a few trim changes and name plates.
