Thanks.

I have never owned a Ford before this pickup. Always had Chevys before this so I don't know what to think of the springs on the rear. I am confident in the weight of the wheat though. I suppose it could have been as much as 5,000 pounds but if I remember right they only charged me for 38 bushels per bag at 60 pounds per bushel and I doubt they under charged me.

So far it has treated me very well. I enjoy it quite a bit. It now has slightly over 150,000 miles on it. I suspect I'll be running it out to 250,000 plus.

The chance that they under charged you for the grain in my experience is virtually zero! Lol
After looking at your truck again I do believe the flatbed might've exaggerated my opinion on how much it was sagging in the back... Where did you get that flatbed? I am envying it!

It's a Hillsboro flatbed. I got it from a local Hillsboro dealer. I'm not sure what to think of it. I don't really like the way the headache rack makes it so stuff gets tucked up in there. For example, if set a Montezuma toolbox right there, I have to set it back away to insure that I'll be able to open it. Also there is no provision for setting a 2x4 or something on the back to keep stuff from sliding out. It has worked well for me, but it seems like there is nothing that's ideal ever.

Hauled one of my vintage garden tractors this weekend with it.

08 F350 5.4 towing 12,000#. Must have been a brutal ride since according to many a gas job can't even move itself.

MDSuperDuty 12-29-2015 08:29 AM

You probably couldn't move an inch or you just spun you're tires. Ha. ;)

nojoke327 12-29-2015 08:34 AM

How did you know? By the time I made it out of the driveway it was already time to return the rental. Might have to call my buddy to borrow his S10 next time

MDSuperDuty 12-29-2015 09:55 AM

When I had my 06 250 5.4 I don't think I towed anything near 12,000 but I'm sure plenty near 10,000. I was not impressed tho.

Did I get there and get the job done? Yes.
Was I so slow I was holding up traffic? Not at all.

But the truck was only rated to 9400lbs towing so it was at and likely above the max factory assigned rating. The truck did have 3.73's so that was definitely it's problem. It definitely had problems with moderate loads and undulating terrain. But even my 4.10 geared V10 feels that with a decent load. But it's definitely a better towing platform. I would take a 5.4 reg cab for a work truck any day tho.

"Have a good day"

Hahah

Nice video. Next time flip the phone to show the trailer behind if you can see it out the back glass. Just for the haters who will say it's not what you're towing. ;)

I don't concern myself with haters. I write the checks for my equipment not them. Plus with 5% tint and the sun glaring the way it was you couldn't see anything out the back. but since you mentioned it here is another one with the trailer shown. Nothing much to this video or anything important. I do tests like this with all sorts of loads all the time just to compare the differences. when I talk about and compare different products it's because i have done the tests and its not an opinion.

Pulling 50' of John Deere Green with my dad's '12 KR. I traded up from a '13 1/2 ton Platinum to a '16 3/4 ton Platinum. I'm glad I manned up. The black '14 Platinum is the guy who usually drives when we head to Montana, Wyoming, or Idaho to ride snowmobile with a 41' Trails West Burandt Edition, filled with 6 sleds and gear.

I don't know for sure but I thought it was required that the differential needed to leave a gouge also to qualify?:p
