Well if you want somebody to talk you out of it, your on the wrong site, lol. I love my '79, get one again

im2tall33 11-10-2010 03:10 PM

i have owned two.. both were 300-6's and my first was a f250 highboy i think.. and the other was a f150 short box..they make great wood trucks!

jredline1984 11-10-2010 06:22 PM

Seeing as how you have owned two, I don't think anyone would be able to talk you out of it

im2tall33 11-10-2010 06:33 PM

nope.. i love my old fords man..they are reliable as all get out and parts are everywhere and cheap

jredline1984 11-10-2010 06:37 PM

Ive noticed how much cheaper it is to build up my '79 than it is to build my Mustang.

im2tall33 11-10-2010 06:40 PM

what year mustang is it again? i had an 85 mustang with a full conversion from an 89 gt.. it was fun!!

jredline1984 11-10-2010 06:43 PM

I have a 1980 Cobra that is awaiting a 4V 351C }>

im2tall33 11-10-2010 06:44 PM

jredline1984 11-10-2010 06:45 PM

Man that sux, I love my foxbodies. I have owned two others in addition to the Cobra. I also had an '94 SVT Cobra

im2tall33 11-10-2010 06:47 PM

nice..yeah i had a 90 2.3 liter i traded for the 85 and before then i had a 79 mustang 2 lol and have had many other fords...lol

jredline1984 11-10-2010 06:54 PM

Hellyeah! It builds character. I still own four of the vehicles Ive purchased throughout the years.

jredline1984 11-10-2010 06:56 PM

Well im leaving work, back in a bit.

im2tall33 11-10-2010 07:13 PM

see ya later.. i will be out for the night here soon..

jredline1984 11-15-2010 09:11 AM

Replaced turn signal and nuetral safety switch, purchased a kick down rod and had to go by a carb for an automatic which I will be rebuilding (the carb) shortly.

Spool&Go 11-15-2010 09:19 AM

Caked my truck with mud while hunting. That is my latest addition. Next will be the caked mud removal, then install of my new fog/driving lights that are scheduled to be delivered here at work today. I'm stoked.

jredline1984 11-15-2010 09:20 AM

Haha, nice Bryce! Be sure to post some pics as I really want to see how that turns out.

Spool&Go 11-15-2010 09:22 AM

For sure. You know I will. I just really hope that I can get them to mount/fit. They are 4 inchers.I'll custom cut the bumper plastics if I have to. It'll look BA either way.

Spool&Go 11-15-2010 11:29 AM

Got Them. Check it out. They have a button that you can press to test the LED's. I held it under my desk and took a pic. They should be awesome when they are on my truck...

im2tall33 11-15-2010 11:51 AM

those are cool!!!!

Spool&Go 11-15-2010 12:20 PM

Thanks! I can't wait to get off work and put them on. Gotta wash the truck before I try mounting them or else I'll be drilling through mud.

I just looked at all the wiring it comes with and figured out how I am going to do it. I'll hard wire the LED "angel eyes" to the parking lights. So when I have just the parking lights on, just the LED rings will light up. Also when I turn my headlights on as well, just the LED rings will light up. I will be wiring the actual center lights to my existing switch.

Spool&Go 11-15-2010 12:23 PM

That was just early in the day. I'll take another pic before I wash it haha.

im2tall33 11-15-2010 12:42 PM

hey mud is a great color on trucks..lol

jredline1984 11-15-2010 01:31 PM

Only thing that holds mine together

im2tall33 11-15-2010 01:40 PM

that and duct tape for me..lol

jredline1984 11-15-2010 01:42 PM

I never leave home without a roll

im2tall33 11-15-2010 01:45 PM

yeah good idea.. i used to have to retape on my mirror on my old sentra every couple of days waiting for the new one to come in..lol

Spool&Go 11-15-2010 01:46 PM

I took the lights outside to my truck on my lunch break. They are going to fit in there just fine. I might have to do some custom bracket work if I want them to sit back behind the plastics like I had before. I might just put them on without the custom work. It would make them stick out a little bit. On the other hand. I would be mad if I just bumped something and broke the light where it would have otherwise done no damage. I do have some 24 gauge sheet metal that I could use. I should probably just do it right the first time :-X22

I actually used it for some duct work on the '79's HVAC system. I believe that is the first time I have ever utilized it for the intended application.

Its more fun to do it two or three times. You gain the skill necessary to do it right in the future, lol. Plus I always like throwing money down the drain, haha. (Ask my about being a cheap@$$ when buying clutch cables for my Mustang, lol)

im2tall33 11-15-2010 01:55 PM

do we want to know corey? i dont think duct tape will work well for clutch cables..

jredline1984 11-15-2010 01:56 PM

I just tried to be cheap and go with an economy brand cable, what a joke. Had to go to Ford directly and buy the right one....you know it may have done the trick, hehe

im2tall33 11-15-2010 01:58 PM

well i am all for trying the easy way first lol..most times i luck out but not always

jredline1984 11-15-2010 02:04 PM

I've done it plenty of times and every once in awhile I luck out

Spool&Go 11-15-2010 02:06 PM

haha ya, but the thing is, THIS IS THE THIRD TIME IVE DONE IT ! ! !

My first set - 4 months later - left light burnt out :-banghead- took them back on warranty, got same pair - :-D

My second set - installed - 2 weeks later - right light goes out:eek:... :-banghead - money back on warranty:-X10 - $20 bucks - (I wonder why they went out ha ha)

Third set - $20+ $42 = $62 bucks - Time to do it right. :-X22

See I have filled out all of the requirements for doing it right now so I think I will

jredline1984 11-15-2010 02:07 PM

Okay I don't feel so bad now.

Well I do tend to throw some money away but not too much. I made my money back on this one = ) . . . Then threw some away.

TrucksR4Chicks 11-15-2010 05:38 PM

I bought a carb rebuild kit... Corey posted about ordering stuff, figured I could make it known when I bought something, even though I haven't gotten around to do anything but cleaning it. HAHA!

jredline1984 11-15-2010 06:22 PM

Wonder who's going to get suckered, uh coerced, into helping you?

jredline1984 11-16-2010 08:58 AM

Bumped the timing, I forgot that these 335 Series engines love advance
