knocking noise 97 f150

i have a 97 f150 4.2l v6. a coolant leak caused me to run the engine hot but was still drivable after cool down. the coolant leak was from the water pump gasket which was replaced along with the timing cover/oil pump assy. while driving the vehicle home after repairs were complete i noticed a knocking or clattering noise from under the hood as i depressed the clutch to decelerate down the off-ramp. this noise is also evident when accelerating in the upper rpm range especially when pressing the pedal to the metal due to sudden loss of power. i had someone rev it up while i listened under the hood and it sounds like it's from the passenger side head area, maybe a valve. also having trouble with oil pressure.

what do you think

Welcome to FTE :)

Noises are very hard to diagnose without actually hearing them.
Overheating an engine can do damage to lots of different parts :(
What kind of oil pressure problems are you having? Have you checked the oil pressure with a real mechanical gauge? That should probably be your first step in checking it. And you might want to take the truck by a good mechanic and have him listen to it.
I've seen 4.2L engines leak coolant into the oil pan from the front cover and also have seen ones that had the front cover replaced but they didnt change the oil after they were done. Or they had been leaking coolant into the oil for some time. Antifreeze destroys bearings.
I've also seen people use a whole bunch of silicone on the front cover gasket and plug the oil holes. Not good.
