Cord "SHOULD" come out near the front passenger tow hook. To make sure you DO have one, look up over the starter at the block and you should see it. It threads forward to the tow hook area.

See the following link for more info on the block heater cord location:

As BPofMD stated it's behind the pass tow hook on the right side looking at the tow hook zip tied in the corner.

Your 2005 would not have come from factory with the cord but will have the connection for it. All 6.0s have the connector for the block heater in the above stated location but the cord only came stock in 2003 and 2004. After that they quit putting the cord on every truck. You can pick up the cord for around $19 shipped off ebay or around $60 from a dealer, and it will plug right in.

Guys,
Remember that the block heater draws about 1100 watts, so try to use a 25ft (or shorter) 12/3-wire extension cord and plug it into a circuit that isn't too heavily loaded to keep from tripping your breaker.

I just bought an inline timer to allow the power to be turned on to the block heater about 2 hours before I leave in the morning - rather than having it plugged in all night.

Also here's a hint: I usually will run the cord up over my drivers side door mirror - to remind myself I have the block heater plugged in - because I don't want to start to drive away with the cord still plugged in...... yes, I've nearly done it myself! It's easy enough to do when you don't see/cross the cord before jumping in, or if the cord is covered by some overnight snowfall - trying to drive away with it still plugged is NOT GOOD for the plug ends! :-hair

Just my 2 cents,
BarnieTrk :-X0A6

Great idea with the timer.I use a 12/3 cord I think It is about 30 feet I made up some for the camper and wanted something better than the 14 or 16 gage. Didn'T know it was 1100 watts but I knew it was a lot the cord would melt the snow. Haven'T needed to use it the past 2 years I go to south Texas for the winter.

I just purchased an 06 250 harley edition. Looked for the cord havent found it...Any specific place i should look??

amdriven2liv 10-27-2010 08:51 PM

If it's there, it is near the passenger side tow hook. I had to look twice to find mine. But, first, look above your starter and see if it has one.

See here:

Diesel Technician Society

If it's not there, see the post you quoted for info on finding one.
