Don't go to Summit, get it from a parts store.

Ask them for one for a 1987 Horizon, 2.2L carbureted. Mine was a 5spd, white 4dr. It had the gauge package as it was the Horizon America.

The sender for our trucks runs from 72 ohms at the bottom end, meaning no or little pressure, to 10 ohms at the top end.

So I actually managed the carb rebuild. The truck runs fine for now but the carbs on its way out. I really need to find my next engine.

What have I done?
I started my 85 F150 Project - a little sooner than expected... It started gushing coolant from behind the water pump. Took the water pump off to replace it and the gasket (of course) and noticed the replacement gasket (still in its packaging) was ripped (of course)... Found an odd shut-off valve coming from one of the heater lines (I think the in-flow line) - but I have no idea what it is, why it's there, or what problems it could be causing me... Also, I officially joined FTE after lurking around for several months!

Today I discovered that where I eventually wanna put my gauge cluster there's already holes exactly where I wanted to mount them.

Yep! I wonder if it used to have a aftermarket gauge set in it.

...or the beforemarket designed it specifically with you in mind!

I am sure it is just to shut off the coolant flow through the heater core. These help the cab to be cooler in the Summer when running the A/C. Couldnt imagine what kind of problems it would be causing. It is just a valve. If you arent getting heat then open it up.

Well, I painted the inserts of my grille satin black.
I don't like it. It made the recessed cross bars disappear, and those cross bars are what denotes a 1980-1981 truck from a 1982+. I think I'll try a dark gray. Until then, I hope the satin black fades. |

Amen. I've run with the valve closed and with it open and watched the mechanical temp gauge - no diff. But, there sure is on the temp of the discharge air in Vent.
