One of the primary reasons why I don't flash pictures of it all over tarnation. Thanks to Ray & Gary, I now have just about all of the body parts I need to replace just about everything made of sheet metal, will next need to save up to rebuild the front end (ball joints, etc.) and maybe some other mechanical stuff. A friend of mine is restoring a 1971 Camaro (frame-off resto) but he has spent 5 years on it so far, I want to do everything in one summer. :D |
Picked up a new Clutch m.c, Slave cylinder, and Clutch hydraulic line. Since my clutch m.c decided to break in half on me the other night. Figured I might as well replace it all when I get the Firewall plate...Which I am still waiting on.
Here is a picture of the carnage. https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...31760430_n.jpg |
What have you done to your truck today?

Thanks for the good advice. Before I dive into replacing the distributor, do you have an opinion on how long is the TFI module expected to last in its stock position? Motorcraft unit, with the correct type of heat sink grease spread on it. The one I replaced it with could have been the original for all I know. I just wonder should I expect it to fail really soon, or rather might it be expected to last ~50K miles?
On Archion's truck, we are relocating the TFI module when we do the 351W swap and go to MAF SEFI. My truck, with the 7.5L when I did the EFI conversion, the donor vehicle had the remote TFI originally. |
I just bought mine a week ago its an 1981 F150 custom pretty rough shape
So far I've replaced the air filter and a hose that was leaker (heater hose) cheap work :) got tons more to do though: leaking transfer case Oil engine leak rear dif service battery cable another hose leak seems to have a vacuum leak or emissions problem also oh and it needs a windshield and tires lol Paid $1000 for it and its got some rust but it was just about the cheapest I could find around here and it does have a fairly new 300CID in it |
One Summer???

Got my interior panels back in today, they look pretty good. I still have to put some more silicone over that hole where the seam sealer used to be, it leaks so slow it almost doesn't leak at all now. I also converted some rust spots behind the back seat belt panels before I put them on.

You are making good progress. What did you use to convert the rust?

It comes in a 15 ounce aerosol can or in liquid form, I still have a full can left do other stuff with it lol. |
I want those floor mats!!!
Concerning the interior paint color on the refurbished parts, did you go with a gloss black? |

Yeah, I wound up using Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric paint, worked out pretty well. They don't look perfect, some spots look slightly different than others because of how the panels deteriorated, but they look way better than they used to!

The biggest issue is the shine. From factory Ford used a satin black. If you like shiny, then it's perfect. If you were going for a factory look, you need satin black. :)
