I'll have to do some searching on Google. But the 33's are only going to be rollers anyway, so it's no big deal.

Finally got around to replacing my alternator bolt with the correct one; last year when my old bolt fell out, I guessed at the size for the replacement and ended up too small. I went with it anyway, thinking it didn't really matter, but as it turns out my alternator was wobbling a bit as a result and causing strange noises. Now that I have the correct bolt (7/16", 4" long) in there, everything is nice and snug again.

Today? Back to repainting my hubcaps. Some of you might remember I was working on this a few years ago, but I never finished; I only got the stripe painted on two caps before the parade I was driving in, so I put the striped caps on the side with the spectators and told myself I'd finish the other side when I had time. Three years later....

Nice! Tedious work, no?

It's not exciting, but not terrible; I spent about 10 minutes per cap last night on the stripe, and will probably do the same today when I give them a second coat. It was much worse back when I did the lettering...it took quite a while to figure out how to do them neatly.

I've often wondered how the intricate parts of pre-80's hubcaps were painted as a mass production effort?

I've never been able to figure it out either. My method of painting the letters was to paint over them fairly heavily, then wipe the excess off the surface of the cap with a paper towel dampened with paint remover. I can't see that working for mass production, though.

Could it have been a sort of system where a stamp presses the words in paint onto the cap, then a 2nd stamp turns the painted words into the indented stamping?

Got the oil pan, oil pump, and pickup removed from the truck today. I had to unscrew and drop the oil pump and pickup in order to get it out, even though I lifted the motor. Not sure how I'm going to get it all back in there. Also, turned engine over a few times to make sure it wasn't hydrolocked (some water had gone down the oil drains in intake valley / heads). It wasn't, yay.

Actually yesterday, but didn't get a picture till today (Gary Lewis). I installed the rubber air dam, if you want to call it that, from a 1992-96/7 model on the radiator support. It goes up against the inside of the bumper to keep to much hot air from behind the radiator from going back into it. I had to trim a section for the oil cooler hoses, as only 88-early 90 460s had the air to oil cooler, mid 90 it changed to a water to oil leak getting ready to happen cooler.

You said hot air, but is it an airflow thing, like for economy? Or, how does it work?

New thermostat coolant and radiator hoses...

When you are sitting in traffic or moving slowly, the air being pulled through the radiator can come back under the radiator support and go right back through again. Moving a little faster, and there is some air that will go under the radiator support rather than through the radiator. This closes a large portion of the area below the grille making it harder for either to happen.

Interesting. And the piece from the later trucks fits the 80-86 trucks. Sounds like a good upgrade.

Probably, remember, mine has 1990 front sheet metal. To use it on a 1980-86 you might need to shorten it since the bumper bolts directly to the frame, mine is on brackets that bolt to the side of the frame.
