2007 expedition recall

I have had a 2007 Expedition El for about a year now. The emissions light recently came on about 4 months ago. I was told by a mechanic who changed my oil and ran a diagnostic that it may be th catalytic converter. He reset the system and said to wait and see if the light came back on. It did.

I just recieved a letter in the mail about a recall on my vehical for the Fuel Rail Assembly. I am by no means a gear head and did a little research on line.

What I want to know is:

1) Will a faulty fuel rail assembly cause my emissions light to come on? And when they fix the issue my light will go off?
2) Could a faulty fuel rail assembly cause my catalytic converter to fail? and if so would Ford be liable for both fixes?

I contacted a dealer near me and got some information from him but I feel he knew my inexperiance in the matter and I was told no to both questions above and that I would have to pay $90 to run a diagnostic and I would also be responsible for the cost to fix anything other than the recall.

Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated,

The exhaust has a longer warranty than the 3/36. Check your manual.

I hope you have better luck than I did getting the cat replaced. Unfortunately I have a crappy dealership located near me.
