Nice pics,those bombers are awesome.
Did you hike at Saguaro Park?

powrstrkr 01-09-2009 07:51 AM

We climbed around some of the rocks at Saguaro and hiked around the end of the north road heading off the main loop. Forget the name of the road. It's about 1/2 mi dirt going north and dead ending. We wanted to do Mt. Lemon but it was incredibly crowded. TV news showed total gridlock up there.BTW it's DAVIS Monthan AFB, not Davin Monthan. It won't let me edit it now. Amazing to see how many of our great planes are just sitting there rotting. I wonder how many of the F-4s, A-6s, A-7s and CODs I saw fly when I was on a carrier are sitting in that boneyard now. One interesting thing they told us - they are cutting up and destroying all the F-14s now. They don't want to risk any of the parts getting over to Iran for their air force. Seems like we should just bomb their air force anyway since they are supporting terrorism and killing our guys. Then we won't have to worry about what they might do with the parts. And keep our F-14s in one piece.

SGnAZ 01-09-2009 08:11 AM

That's a shame about cutting up the F-14s.I don't see how the parts could walk away if they are sitting in the AZ desert.I think W would have done them in if he had more time, the guy who didn't get elected certainly would have,I don't know what the new guy will do:confused:
Didn't mean to get political

powrstrkr 01-09-2009 08:15 AM

There are several vendors they sell parts to for various reasons. I suppose they figure the potential for a lot of cash under the table in exchange for those parts is just too great.

You make a good point.Money is the root of all evil}>
Anyway your truck in the snow is a cool pic,I need to get out and play in the white stuff too.

That viewpoint I'm parked at is on the way to the ruins. It's an incredible view off camera to the right but it was total whiteout then.

Where is Queen Creek?

Cool pics thats a shame about the tire !!!!!

F0rdFre@K 01-09-2009 09:54 AM

Pics look cool Chris.

Last article I read, we sole a BUNCH of F14s to Isreal. They were stripped down models without all our missle guidance computers etc. Still good for a good old fashioned dog fight with the Iranians but, not something that would cause any of our current fleet any problems taking them apart from several miles away if they got in the wrong hands and we needed to eliminate them.

Sucks to see such a wonderful machine be decommissioned but, it did serve it's purpose well and now it's time to move on. The F22 Raptor is one bad ass machine. Looks like we finally did something right with that fighter.

As for politics... the one who got elected (by the ignorant masses may I add) won't do **** to protect this country. His main area of concern at the moment is to disarm Americans so we can't protect ourselves from our government if need be. Next order of business will be to allow his terrorist buddies access to our terminals to prepare for another attack.

OK, 2nd part of that may be speculation. But, with known terrorist affiliation, how the hell did "We the people" allow him to be elected? Oh yeah, cuz he's black. Stupid people of America. I knew from day one when he said he was running it would be between him and Hillary. Not for their political views but for the purpose of getting either a black man or a white trash biitch in office.

Thing that pissed me off the most... At the mall the other day, saw a T-Shirt hanging in the window of a store. On the shirt was a picture of Obama with one fist raised above his head. The txt read "BLACK POWER".

PISSED ME OFF!!!

powrstrkr 01-09-2009 09:58 AM

DANG SG! I coulda stopped by and said "Hi!" We cruised over to Scottsdale before heading up to Payson and home. I think someone on here was south of Tucson over Xmas and I meant to contact him to cruise by his motorhome/5er to meet him too, but never had a chance to get on line before I left.

powrstrkr 01-09-2009 09:59 AM

You're right on Eddie! I can't believe all the parties and happy hours people are having on inaguration day. Totally stupid.

I agree with all of what you said.If there had been a shirt with any white man on it in a mall window that said white power that store would have been burnt to the ground.Well I guess all we can say is we voted but not for him

ROFLMAO!!! I'm not sure I want to see that now. http://images.ford-trucks.com/forums...es2/smhair.gif

powrstrkr 01-12-2009 11:59 AM

The tire is on its way to the Michelin claims office in SC. A buddy recently had the same thing happen to him with the same tires and they offered him a new set of tires. See if I get that lucky!

KRDiesel 01-12-2009 12:12 PM

Good luck on your tires, I would demand a new set, If there was a problem with one, you do not know if the others were from the same batch.

F0rdFre@K 01-13-2009 09:30 AM

Sad day for me yesterday...

Went to Discount Tire to price out some new shoes for the 350 and put them on order. My pocket is sad it's not empty another $1600.00. But, my truck will soon be happy with new 35x12.5x18 BFG MT/KM2s.

Chris, hope everything goes your way on that tire issue. Good luck bro.

KRDiesel 01-13-2009 03:59 PM

1600, Ouch!!

F0rdFre@K 01-13-2009 04:33 PM

Tell me about it. $360 per tire plus TT&L.

powrstrkr 01-14-2009 09:28 AM

Can't wait to see your new tires Eddie and how much you can smoke 'em! Too bad it costs so much!

The tire should be at the SC warranty center tomorrow. They did tell me this morning that if they can't determine the cause of failure they would give me the benefit of the doubt. But all they are likely to pay for is the damaged mud flap and any difference in what I paid for the new tire if they didn't pro rate it or measure tread depth correctly. I told him I don't trust the other tires and want to go to load range E's. I am willing to pay the diff between D's and E's but they should give me a new set of D's no question.

powrstrkr 01-27-2009 04:12 PM

Well the Michelin warranty center got the tire and has BSed their way into not honoring any warrantee or paying my claim. They said the tire got a puncture thru the tread and was run flat till it separated into pieces. What a load of crap. It noticeably blew, the right rear dropped and by the time I got pulled over the tire came apart. It half blew apart when the sidewall gave out anyway. It might have had a pinhole, but that is not what caused it to blow out. So I'm stuck and I need new mudflaps too. Can't buy just one. I can't find the kind I have anyway. A sidewall blew out on my last set of ATs on a grocery run. I'm taking the new BFG back to a local DT and getting another brand. No more BFGs or Michelins for me again - ever. F'em!!

KRDiesel 01-27-2009 06:05 PM

That sucks, I will also look at another brand when I need tires.

dodmort 01-29-2009 09:47 PM

No BFG's here.....had enuf...
done me bad....
many side wall blow outs on the z rated ones.......
kind of scares you at 90

BChance 01-29-2009 11:16 PM

I could not be happier with my Yokohama Geolander ATs on my 350. well.. maybe if they were free, but I got the 285s for 120 bucks a tire on sale, and they have been damn good tires. My brother In Law put a set on his Cummins Dodge, and he is just as pleased.

dodmort 02-09-2009 09:44 PM

Lets beat this BFG horse some more....

I have 2 left on the back of the SVT
Have had 4 sets before as i try to keep my stuff "stock"
car has 71k miles and sits since the old lady "loves" her EXPY.

So. Walk out of my shop bathroom saturday morn. and look down at the rear tire on the Cobra and low and behold....a bubble of rubber sticking out between the tread and the sidewall.
Makes me think hard about my 105 MPH drive across the Missle Range some 8 weeks ago.

I'm gonna take back what I said about never buying BFG or Michelin tires again. I should have said I'd never buy them unless I got a super killer deal. Worked one out at the Cottonwood Discount tire the other day. I looked at the YOKO Geolander ATs but they don't come in load range E in 285s for 16in rims. So I'm getting a set of BFG AT 285/75 R16s in load range E, mounted, balanced, out the door for $596. I can't pass it up. I'll get them next weekend if they have them in. That includes giving them back the new tire I bought in Tucson to replace the shredded one. And a replacement warranty without having to deal w/ Michelin. If I'd had the warr on the old set I'd have gotten a new tire free in Tucson. And they don't have white letters on the sidewall. I can make that sacrifice. Being a loyal customer at Discount Tire really pays off. I'm sure they'd cost a whole lot more if my rims were 18 or 20in right Eddie! Haha!

F0rdFre@K 02-16-2009 08:25 AM

Yeah, rub it in... bastid...

powrstrkr 02-16-2009 10:08 AM

I gotta tell ya I was tempted to get new black/stainless rims. I like that look. Not chrome or polished - just the stainless or aluminum look mixed with black. But my wallet started screaming so I'll hang onto my factory Alcoas for now.

F0rdFre@K 02-17-2009 12:07 AM

I'm ready for some black rims. Gonna go all black on my truck. Blackout headlamps, taillamps, markers, dechrome the badging on the side of my truck and install black flares and paint the bumpers black. Only thing left will be my rims. Those chromies gotta go. :D

powrstrkr 02-17-2009 07:35 AM

I had good luck hammer blacking my chrome B2 badges. I sanded them down which wasn't easy but once I did a couple coats w/ a hammer black rattle can looks pretty good. Almost 2 years and it hasn't flaked off yet.

F0rdFre@K 02-17-2009 08:09 AM

Cool........

Sorry I took so long to get back.. Yes they are D rated, but look at the weight rating....3305 per tire @ 60 psi..your E rated BFGs are 3415 @ 80 psi..and the Yokos are R (106) rated for speed, the BFGs are Q (90)..

In a nutshell, I can theoretically carry 220 lbs LESS than you, but I can carry it faster! The Yokos have a bit more plush of a ride, without feeling mushy, even with a 3500 lb (+/-) camper sitting on it, and they seem to hold up better, longer..

You did get a decent deal on the BFGs though....but since I mount and balance my own, I got em for $420.00.....and a half hour out of my day.

That is them with the Camper on....they don't squat much at all....
