New F150 looks like a...
Is it just me or do the new trucks look like a dodge? I heard it was an attempt at getting the looks of the F1... I think it's way off, would love to see a 60's or 70's retro truck...
The stang, camaro, challenger and charger are pretty good, we need a truck... Any opinions on the new look? |
A fiat!
I thought it kinda looks like the new tundra, but the fiat !?!? |
looks fine to me....if they was to go retro the `56 F100 is the way to go a modern version of that truck would be AWEEEESOOOOME
|
The only truck that Ford has built over the years that I wasn't immediately taken by was the 1997-2003 gen trucks, most notably, the Screws. Oddly enough as we approach 20 years of service for this gen, there are tons of them still working hard every day.
The point? I'm loving the new body and I think it will outlast anything that's currently in production. |
I think the new rams look horrible and I don't see any similarities.
|
The one thing I hate about the new Ram 1500 is the rear suspension and the fact that in the 2003 MY they dropped the Dana solid axle in the 1500.
|
I like the new F150. I think it's a sharp looking truck. I am looking forward to buying one in 2016.
|
My favorite look as a kid was the 1978-1979 years. I think just like when the 2009's came out, some had to get used to the less conservative look, we'll get used to the 2015's. I'll be ready for another one when 2016 rolls along, so it should be interesting to see how well the new truck is received.
|
I like'em.
|
The front end on a Ram truck has zero resemblance to the new ford f150.

I'm not really seeing much fiat resemblance here.

Absolutely zero

No, I don't see a resemblance at all either, if anything the F150 is leaning more to the current Super Duty look, IMO. I Like it. I don't see a lot of Tundra-esq looks either. As of now, I like the design, but who knows how we will like it until we are actually standing next to it but, I think Ford has hit another home run!:-X22

|
That is a pretty truck in 6 or 7 years I may buy 1
|
Ain't no tellin what trucks (all trucks) will look like in 6 or 7 years!:-X04
|
I meant I will buy a 2015 in 6-7 yrs I was just joking I just bought a 2014 but the new truck is very nice looking and all the added features are cool
|
I know, I was just being silly! I just bought a 2014 myself, a 250 though. Love that beast! I'm sure when the new 150's and the 2016 Super Duty trucks are out, I'll get the fever again!:-X04

Congrats on the new Rig, be sure to post some photos! As far as the Super Duty, I have way more truck than I need in reality. My Dad is getting in poor health and has logging and farm equipment that needs moving from time to time, he has an old flatbed F450 (89 model) it still runs, but starting to have some issues. So, instead of trying to repair the truck that will not get used very often, I went ahead and traded my F150, Loved the truck, but it wasn't designed to pull the equipment Dad has. Basically, I used the first excuse I could find to get a 250! }>
If and when you start with the mods, check out the ATAK exhaust for the 5.0L (Borla), man does it wake up the 5.0L. That is one sweet sounding V8! |

http://blogs.cars.com/files/15_f150_appearanceguide-hc_sglepg_final_2-ret-.pdf When I look at the taillights on the blue one on the fx4 package page at first glance they look a lot like the ones on the 07-13 tundra between the sharp angles and the reverse light being on bottom but I can see a bit of the 09-14 f150 in to in the shape of the light too The models with the blacked out grills have a real vague resemblance to the tundra but I think it's just because of the black grill because I don't see it on the chrome grills. I think the look of this truck may grow on me but at first I thought the new truck was hideous I'm still not a big fan. The grill is okay, I don't like the headlights at all, and the new "caribou" color on the king ranch really doesn't do it for me. It's got too much brown in it, to me it just doesn't say king ranch. The accent color needs to have more gold in it. Unless something changes as far as how often I tow an haul for work, I'm going super duty for my next truck, I just hope they are a bit more conservative with the body style updates and stick close to the current style |
They look like a Tundra no doubt about it. And I LIKE it!!
If they didn't cost 50k, I would go buy one |
From 50 yds you won't be able to tell if it's 2013 Tundra or an F-150. I guess it's better than the square shoe boxes of the past 5 years but it certainly isn't original.
|
Looks like a BEAST!! :-X22
Going to look into getting one in the next few; just waiting (patiently) for those numbers of towing and mpg. |
I think the new design looks good and I am very interested in purchasing but I am definitely going to wait until there is further information on mileage and until I can stand in front of it and sit in and drive it. Too much money to spend on something sight unseen.

I was at the MN state fair yesterday. Went over to the FoMoCo spot and saw the "prototype" 2015 F150. Doors were locked and the hood was closed which kind ticked me off. Why not just show the real deal? At any rate in person and this was a 4x4 F150, it seemed to be a bit short for myself. Now I am 5'9 and roughly 140lbs 21 year old guy. But the truck seemed to sit a bit low for my tastes. I think the 09+ sit higher than this does. Font end in pictures looks great but in person, I can't help but almost throw up in my mouth.
Body style looks awesome, but the dash seems to be a carry over from the current line. Gear select is still on the tree rather than the shift being in the middle on the console, course I cannot remember if it had the 3 person set up in the front or if it was only the 2 person. This one did have the side step for the bed, probably to take the place of the lacking flareside of the older model trucks. Overall it looks nice but I wish they would have shown more like the do at auto shows. I guess I have to wait til later this fall early winter before I can even sit inside one and pop the hood open. |
My wife - as an objective person to the truck world - also said she thought there was a resemblance between the Ram and the new 2015 F150

As with anything, I'll reserve judgement until detailed dimensions are released. I doubt we'll be seeing many of these up here in canuck-land until winter. |

I've heard this comment from a few guys, that it seems to look smaller or lower than the previous truck. I have heard that the bed sides are shorter, which wouldn't hurt my feelings, they are already pretty danged high to lift anything over.

"The aerodynamics were much more at the forefront on this launch," Richards said of the aluminum-body truck. Ford has not discouraged industry speculation the truck could get as much as 30 miles per gallon in highway driving. -USA Today article 8/27/2014
Yep, that's right they're tossing around the 30 MPG number - can't help but feel this is being done on purpose. I get that this may be the highway figure for a stripped 4x2 2.7 eco-boost but none-the-less impressive and will translate to higher MPG right on down the line 4x4's, 3.7 liter, etc. |
Well, one thing is for sure....It doesn't resemble the GM twins, those things got worse IMO for sure, looks like it has the aerodynamic qualities of a brick, and has piano casters for wheels. I know the bed supposed to have a much better "reach over" but it is not proportional to the lines of the truck, and the wheel wells just don't seem, well,....right:-hair?! As long as Ford doesn't take that direction, we'll be okay!
|
I really can't wait to see one in person. I, for one, really like the new GM trucks though, and I'd definitely test drive one along with the Ram before I bought another F150. But looks really are of no consequence to me, they could beat it with the ugly stick all day long and I'd still buy it if it was the best tool for the job.

Sent from my Telegraph using IB AutoGroup |
I am purchasing a new truck in January and it will be either the new 2015 F150 or the Ram 1500 eco-diesel. I am waiting to see the final numbers on MPG, see each 2015 version in person, test drive each, and what the final cost will be after any incentives and dealer discount. It will either be a 2015 Lariat 4x4 super cab (2.7 or 3.5 EB depending on the new truck's MPG) or a 2015 Ram Laramie quad cab, 4x4 eco-diesel.
|
If I was in that market I would buy the Ram and then come back to Ford after we see what they come out with.
